I have no idea. Where can we follow results?

Scroll to the bottom of this page: https://wapo.st/3tYCLxU. Looks good for Ds in the at large races and dranesville. I don’t know who is who in the others.

Thank you.

Right now, Dems are 12-0, and all are carrying at least 60% of the votes.

The only Hong that could make FCPS parents vote several of the Dems back onto the board after the COVID disaster was threats book banning and targeting LGBTQ kids. So, thanks to Republicans for playing the culture wars in a county that clearly has no interest. In my district, the number #1 priority of the R candidate was “protecting our children from pornography in school libraries”. #2 was “protecting girls sports as safe spaces”. The only thing worse than incompetence is 4 years of culture wars. Hard pass. If I had heard about returning TJ to pure merit based admissions, teacher pipeline initiatives and smaller clas sizes from Rs, I would have votes for the R. But, I read the candidate questionnaires and it was book banning and trans kids.

And ironically with the protecting kids from porn in the libraries book banning nonsense - the real place our kids are deluged with porn is on their smart phones … revenge porn is now generated by AI and affects girls as young as 11 .., none of the R culture war candidates are moving to regulate AI or big tech or better protect our girls from revenge porn which is now very common …

“Anything less than restoration of full Republican control of the General Assembly — the GOP has to flip one, ideally two, seats in the Virginia Senate and hold the House of Delegates, where it has a three-seat edge — will be viewed as an absolute defeat for Youngkin, who doesn’t as much play to win as not to lose.”

Moderate Democrat here. The more I read these results, the more delighted I am. Biden’s moderate approach to Israel didn’t siphon off voters despite what all the far left was screaming about. Banning trans healthcare for kids didn’t win, and I say this as someone who thinks medicalized transition for children is a serious medical scandal but who also feels very strongly that it’s extremely inappropriate for legislators to interfere with medical care (including abortion). Abortion rights were a huge winner and I was afraid that issue had faded out of view. J6 wasn’t diminished in importance. Election deniers lost badly. Youngkin was rebuffed squarely in his attempt to become more MAGA and will hopefully return to being a RINO Republican and then eventually lose entirely (I think he is smarmy).

Essentially these results are an endorsement of some badly needed moderates. It’s a relief.

Honestly, you and others should read it (gift link):

It's not so much cheerleading for Youngkin as describing the space he could succeed in.

I read it days ago because I have my own subscription. If he didn’t win these elections there’s no space in which he could succeed. But thanks for checking!

Is the Virginia Project a reliable source? If so, do you think this has merit? I don’t like the sound of it at all (posting link due to swear word)

Are the losing republicans planning to concede or will they scream about stolen elections?

Someone saying they’ve collected hard evidence doesn’t have any merit until someone has seen the evidence and it’s actually evidence of a crime. This smells like Kraken-level bullsh!t.

She isn’t a porn “star.”

Star means fame and celebrity, she has notoriety by virtue of running for office as a sex worker. There’s a difference.

Maybe I am mistaken but I don’t even think she was a sex worker… I think she filmed a video of her having sex with her husband and posting it. Honestly, at this point no one cares about this type of stuff here.

A post on X alleging the VA election was stolen by the Russians? No, this is not a credible source. Come on man.

So much for that guy! His national aspirations are toast after sticking his name all over this campaign - in an off/off election year for VA - and then losing the legislature.

I do think that if Youngkin RINOs up and distances himself from MAGA, he could come back. But he clearly doesn’t have great political instincts. Going full MAGA was never going to work in VA.
