If he runs for any kind of office, his promise to sign whatever abortion ban makes it to his desk will play in a loop. He has terrible political instincts anyway, doubling down on that, on the eve of the election. |

+1 Now that you know this campaign strategy doesn’t work, leave the kids alone FFS. |
+1. He only won because everything aligned perfectly. NOVA moms were furious over the Dem Governor letting school closings drag on for a full year, McAuliffe was not paying attention to that issue, was not talking to suburban women and was not that well liked to begin with. Plus, he had the “what parents want doesn’t matter” line. Which was infuriating to many of us felt like he was brushing away the very real damage closing schools for that long had done to our kids. Of course, Youngkin and Rs took to mean a single parent can dictate the English curriculum and contents of the school library, which is not where most NOVA parents are. If suburban women were not so pissed off at the Dem leaders in VA over school closings. Or, if we had a better candidate than McAuliffe, Youngkin wouldn’t have won. He’ll never win again, because he’ll never get that lucky again. Plus, he seemed very NOVA palatable moderate, business friendly, socially moderate, which can work in VA. Of course, he was not that at all. But, he had no political track record. Now, he does. |
I don't necessarily disagree. I just think a Trump loss will throw the GOP into even further chaos and they will have a hard time coalescing around anyone currently on the national stage. Youngkin can get a couple of bi-partisan wins before the end of his term and then go do good works and re-emerge as a traditional WASP Republican. To be clear, I define political future as credibly competitive in a statewide or nationwide election. Not that he'd win the GOP nomination for President. |

Imagine that. A NYT political opinion aging poorly. |
Should’ve waited 3 days to print that garbage. |
