It would be GREAT if tonight ended up as a rebuke of Youngkin.

I don’t think the early returns look great for Dems unfortunately.

Where are you getting this? Right now, Dems are poised to pick up a seat in RURAL VA. They will pick up a couple of Senate seats. My money is on Dems taking both chambers.

Sorry meant to cite this.

Oh thank God.

I hope that little girl understands how much everyone felt for her pain in all of this. It doesn’t make it “worth it” but I hope she feels the tiniest piece of vindication.

And I bet her doctor feels more than the tiniest bit.

I haven't followed KY politics enough .. what lessons are there to learn from Beshear? The state is obviously still red as can be. What messaging is getting through from him to otherwise Trumpian supporters?

Others have mentioned Beshear's name recognition and the fact that his opponent was not particularly strong. Another reason for his success is performance. He has done an outstanding job running the state. Another couple of notable things. Beshear vetoed a bill that would have banned gender affirming care for children. A huge number of DCUMers are convinced that trans issues are kryptonite for Democrats (and many even threaten to vote Republican themselves due to trans issues). But, Beshear clearly paid no price for standing up for trans youth. Second, Beshear ran very hard in favor of abortion rights.

But, prochoice (abortion or broader healthcare including gender affirming care) candidates are not winning across the south.

When you say outstanding job running the state, what does that mean and how is that message getting through to voters? I'm asking because in constrast to almost everyone else (on both sides), I actually see Biden doing a pretty decent job running the country. But that message certainly isn't getting through. So, I just wonder what Beshear is doing that does translate?

Put up some numbers that make you think that then.

This is pp. I wasn’t sure what to watch but saw that Perry was losing to Segura, which I had seen was a bellweather. She looks to be ahead now so I take it back. Phew!!

Why hasn’t AP announced the KY race? Over 70% of the vote is in.

If vanvalkenburg takes 16, is that important? Or just expected.

Pretty much expected. Keep an eye on Senate 24 and maybe 17. Those would be upsets.
