I think the PP who keeps saying that moderates are going to see leftists angry with Biden and decide that means Biden isn't pro-Israel enough is completely wrong. But there's a pretty large bloc of Arab voters in Michigan and I'm not sure how that is going to affect the election. Will enough moderates and indepedents - at least the ones who care about Israel - care about Biden's strong position here to counterbalance the Arab voters we're going to lose? I don't know - I hope so. |
Good luck to them! |
Yes. Congratulations. You have discovered what a moderate voter in a swing state is. Of course this is about the swing state people who dislike both Trump and Biden and are looking for a reason to distance themselves from one or the other. That is precisely the group of voters we are discussing. |
You’re forgetting Michigan which has enough Muslim voters to swing the election. Biden is doing a great job convincing them to stay home |
The Muslim voters are clustered heavily in a few specific districts that vote blue anyhow. I do not understand how people think this is going to swing Michigan at all. They seem a bit ignorant of MI electoral politics. |
They vote blue based on foreign policy. The certainly aren’t progressive on social issues |
You seem to be ignoring what they are telling any reporter who will listen. |
No. There is no true moderate who is looking at Biden's Israel policies and deciding that this time they're just going to have to give it to Trump. You're absolutely nuts if you think that is happening. Lots of us moderates are real sick and tired of the far left. And luckily Biden is not part of that end of our party! |
These elections don't come down to districts, though - the votes are counted state-wide. It doesn't take that many Muslim voters to decide they hate Jews just that much, to swing things in Michigan. I really hope that they will be made up for by moderate voters who would rather eat glass than go back to Trump. I guess we'll see. |
Do not be flippant here. Those blue districts are going to be a little less blue next year (because some people will sit out the election). It might be sufficient to flip the election. The election is a full year away. Lots of things can happen between now and then. It’s not all doom and gloom. But if the re-election team isn’t paying attention here, they should be fired. |
+1. We will see what happens when Trump is elected and enacts “Muslim Ban” 2.0. The number of Republicans who are aligned with the interests of most Muslims is minuscule. However, republicans do attract the religious fundamentalists, so stranger things have happened. |
According a The New York Times/Siena College poll released today, Biden is trailing Trump by 5 points in Michigan. I doubt Biden is as cavalier about the Muslim and Arab vote as you seem to be. |
Moderates love low inflation, rapidly growing economies, a stable banking system, world peace through strength, energy independence, a full petroleum reserve, a full supply of ammunition, a military that can recruit, higher ACT scores, fewer covid deaths than Biden, fewer vaccine deaths than Biden, higher life expectancies, a more influential reserve currency…. Trump looks golden. |
I don’t know. But I’m not sure Muslim Ban, etc. vs being unable to resolve Israel/Palestine is going to have Muslim voters going for Trump. |
And you're forgetting that PA and AZ have enough Jewish voters to swing the election. As for Dearborn, I don't understand the complaints. Biden has done more for Palestinians than any president since Bush the First. And as for the Jewish complainers, none of his criticisms of Israel have been remotely controversial. Biden's done a great job on this so far. The Israelis and Palestinians aren't cooperating but that's par for the course. At least he seems to understand the complex interconnected nature of this cluster. |
