Seriously? Those kids likely have a long, unstable road ahead of them with these two as parents. I guess good for Sophie and Joe that they got it out of the way and now they can go do whatever they want. |
DP. Obviously I don't know them (I haven't even seen their TikToks, lol). But based just on what I do know, this really seems like a situation where a guy married a gorgeous, talented, successful, young, fun woman, and then tried to put her in a nice confined box so only he could enjoy her. The timing of their marital problems, rumors he wanted more kids even though she clearly doesn't (and is soooo young -- there is no reason for them to have another kid right now when she could definitely have a kid in 6 or 7 years if they decided they wanted more), and then the extremely biased press leaks about her being a partier and painting him as a dutiful father and primary parent when she was home with the kids for actual years before filming this show in the UK. The whole think makes me feel icky. He seems very controlling and scared of Sophie having freedom or independence. |
Well yes, the man is a troll. She can absolutely do better and he knows it. |
He's playing with fire. One allegation of abuse and his career is over |
Really? Men in entertainment lose their careers over allegations of abuse? |
This is how I feel about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, except it seems to be working (so far, anyway). |
I think here are advantages to having kids young (I had one kid late and I know the advantages and disadvantageous of that well). However, the situation with Sophie and Joe reminds me of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philipe (another noted a$$hole) where she was super young and had gotten famous and successful as a teen, and they had two kids and got married very quickly (pretty sure their first kid was an oops that precipitated their marriage). Reese is one of those people who I think makes the best of any situation and will just grind until it all works out somehow, but I wouldn't say her life has been amazing. Early divorce, co-parenting with a narcissist, issues in her second marriage leading to another divorce, etc. I am certain she doesn't regret her kids (clearly very devoted mom) but I wouldn't say this is a blueprint for happiness. I think having kids young can work if you have great family support, your career is amenable to it, and you and your partner are very much on the same page. But not so much when your much older husband is kind of insisting on having more kids when you just want to enjoy your 20s a bit, and oh by the way you've never really had a regular adolescence because you've been working since you were 14 years old. |
Oh I don't get this vibe from Blake and Ryan at all. It feels like she kind of runs that relationship more than he does, and I think a lot of their choices (including all their kids and where they choose to live) were driven by her vision for their family. He works more than she does, but she does some very high profile stuff and he is always suuuuuper supportive in a very visible way on it, like when she co-chaired the Met Ball. She also developed her own product via his beverage company and she's been very forward about promoting it and he seems supportive. I don't get that "please just stay home and be quiet and pop out more babies for me" vibe from him the way I very much do from Joe Jonas. |
Yeah I don't think that the kids are doomed and I myself had my first kid at 26, but I think that most women in situations like Reese Witherspoon are less happy than women in situations like Diane Keaton. And that's to say nothing about the emotional health and lifelong happiness of the kids (or potential) kids involved. |
+100. Better for who? Not for the kids, or for Sophie. Someone of her means could do this all on her own and not need a controlling and vindictive ex trying to sabotage her career and subject the kids to a nomads life of moving back and forth between homes. |
Reynolds and Lively have the similar star status. Jonas is some boy band guy that only certain people know. Turner is a far better known star than he is. I don’t get the sense Lively or Reynolds married down. You do with Turner, she married down. |
I love that Sophie's camp has not uttered a word. I hope she continues to take the high road. It makes JJ look like a total tool. |
Agree, she can do better than a short, average-looking brother of a once-popular family boy band. It's like marrying one of the Osmond brothers other than Donny. |
Reynolds is pushing half a billion in net worth thanks to mint mobile. Prior to deadpool, they may have been near the same level, but not anymore. I think they both just seem like they are happy being a family rather than using the other as an accessory like so many celebrity couples. |
Insiders are saying he was in talks with two different lawyers last week in case things couldn’t be reconciled. Then, based on what he saw on the ring camera, he knew the marriage was over. |
