And his wife did not know?!
Please.

Do you even know what a soundproof room looks like? If it doesn't have a big sign on it, it could look like any other walk in closet full of miscellaneous crap.

Now her daughter's job won't exist anymore and they won't be able to stay in their house. He probably got paid (bribes) in cash for "consulting on zoning codes" and made it so they were poor on paper.

Unlikely. He had lots of business from very high-end coops (boards hired him to represent their side in renovations); those don't pay UTT - they don't need the headache.

Can you imagine how many years he was paid under the table, while taking part in his perversions ($$$)? Decades! Anyone else think the IRS is going to get a piece of this, too?

Lol- a piece of what, exactly? I highly doubt he was sitting on a fortune or able to work under the table in his business. His stepson may have qualified for some benefits due to his disability. Or, perhaps Rex had the family on a tight budget and they traded food stamp recipients cash for food stamps (some FS recipients sell the FS for less than their value in exchange for cash (for example they will sell $40 in FS for $20 cash).

Well, he had the money to pay for sex fairly often - so he had something - and was certainly hiding money, and much more, obviously. Has anyone seen the interview with the girl who went on a date with him, but left early? She said he was definitely creepy, so much so that she called a friend to pick her up. She said he was definitely angry that she would not get in his car (!!!) He was talking about the murders during the date, and his M.O. was plausible deniability. She thought that he might be "a normal family guy" - but he was far from it, even though he seemed to have a real job. When he said he was divorced, she knew he was not.

He believed that no one would believe the girls because of what they did for a living, and he deliberately chose rather small women. The stuff that he was into was horrific. I have also been watching interviews with the BTK killer's daughter. I never followed either of these cases until now. If you have ever come across someone like this guy, you would be freaked out, too.

Did at least one of the women go to his house? The idea of the secret room and the storage facilities - my gosh.

I'm not disagreeing that he is an evil person who was hiding god knows what, but some of the theories about his finances and the food stamps are outlandish. That is all.

DA will be holding a press conference at home of Rex Heuermann at noon today.

Conference moved to 12:30.

We'll see.... Could be 1. they completed search of the home and are moving into the next phase of the investigation. or 2. they found something significant.

I'm guessing number 1. Not expecting much detailed new info.

agreed this is probably rumor control, as is the case with other crimes covered. If they found something big I doubt they would announce it, they would leave it for the trial/ court proceedings.

Anyone watch?

He also paid for storage space at two places, which they searched. That could cost about 1K a month. A lot to spend instead of maintaining ones’s home.

I wonder what he was storing?

Why doesn't anyone go to Gilgo beach? It looks nice on tv. Is there no parking?

It seemed weird to me that no dogs have found these remains over the years. lots of people with off leash dogs on these deserted beaches and the dogs don’t usually running through the rushes. Given the number of bodies they found, I was surprised by that.

The original four were found by a police dog.

1. doesn’t seem to me to be worthy of an on site press conference.
