Airplane noise concerns overblown?

So funny. Die laughing in fact (high likelihood of that happening sooner under a flight path).

Read the guy’s post on page 5 attesting to this. He’s telling it like it is

If you were outdoors (or indoors with windows open) you had to pause conversation until the plane passed. We could sometimes see the flashing of the lights move across our floors at night and often could see people in the plane windows. I loved that little house but man did we hate the air traffic.

Enough said.

Have people become this lazy?

The planes flew over the Potomac River and more if Virginia land until 2014.

Then two things happened: NextGen gPs autopilot landing was installed all over the country for billions of $. And simultaneous with that, McLean VA community and local politicians were quick and smart enough to lobby DCA FAA to not have any flight paths over them and mainly over MoCo and NW DC.

This took the 1000s of landings and concentrated them all on the same path for the last 5 mins if their southbound approach.

Many cities with rivers are angry. There are a few solutions: create a few more GPS node flight paths so certain neighborhoods aren’t always harassed by Josie and pollution from 6am until midnight, plus the 2-4am FedEx landings. Or, go back to the Flying over the River approaches.

Really?

And you are happy?

Genuine question, no planes PP? Are you a bit tipsy? Maybe post tomorrow when you’re sober and more prone to some honesty.

I’m not happy or not happy. But this is a real estate forum and it’s a useful indicator. I think flight path is a big problem and will depress sale volumes and prices over time if nothing changes. It’s just not possible to pretend it’s not there.

Can we change the title of this thread to Overblow airplane noise flow of consciousness?

What adjustment? Interest rate too high? Recession? Oh, wait, Airplane Noise... not.

What facts are you disputing exactly? You haven’t referred to a single one. The only stream of consciousness is yours.

Is it that there isn’t 1/min on average flying over the Palisades and Foxhall?
Is it that the resulting noise breaks DC regulations and WHO guidelines for what’s considered safe exposure?
Is it that there’s no pollution affecting morbidity and mortality that comes with the flight path and living +|- 10-15 miles from the airport in the flight path direction?
Is it the truthful accounts of your neighbors and citizen coalitions?

What exactly are you disputing?! All I’ve heard is, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Well, that’s fair but the facts would lead anyone to conclude it’s a really big deal.

Yes, airplane noise is a factor and will be an even bigger one as we came out of the pandemic and people realized just how bad it is. The houses in equally leafy central neighborhoods outside of the flight path aren’t sitting for months and repeatedly falling out of contracts and selling at a loss. Just look up the sales per area.

It would be naive to think that the plane noise hasn’t reduced the pool of potential buyers. I think it had already, but if not, certainly will also depress the prices. It had happened in every other area under the flight path. Or do you subscribe to the Palisades exceptionalism theory?

The point is that the way to enact change is to agree there’s a problem. If your neighbors are volunteering their time and resources to protect your investment and improve your life, it’s counterproductive to claim that there’s no problem at all and they are crazy.

Unless you really believe that despite all the facts to the contrary. If you do, fine, but I don’t see how that’s possible??

I was trying to not be piling on this page with the accounts out of concern for your concern about people being put off the neighborhood, but ok I’ll quote it now.
