That's my assumption. I had been waiting for the 6pm announcement.

I was thinking 7pm. Let people get home from work.

The supposed order of events after her death

The royal family will announce plans for the queen’s funeral, which is expected to be held 10 days following her death.

The prime minister will be the first member of the government to make a statement. All other members of the government will be instructed not to comment until after the PM has spoken.

The Ministry of Defence will arrange for gun salutes to take place at all saluting stations. A national minute’s silence will be announced.

The prime minister will then hold an audience with the new king, and at 6 p.m., King Charles will deliver a broadcast to the nation.

so no 6pm announcements mean more than likely it will be tomorrow, but obviously not guaranteed by any means.

Please note none of this applies as she will die in Scotland. https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/08/operation-unicorn-plans-if-queen-dies-scotland

It's literally one of the first things that happen after her death. So yeah, that's why they are assembling hastily. It would also explain why Kate and Meghan are not present - they are not needed as part of the formal transition of power to Charles.

The only person there that doesn't make sense to me is the Countess of Wessex. But perhaps Anne's husband is there and it hasn't been reported on.

Kaye was photographed staying back in Windsor “looking after the kids.” Wouldn’t the kids be pulled from school for this?

It'll be like when an actor or singer die whose name I've heard but have never watched or listened to their work. I just think "well, that's too bad for their family" and move on.

You care enough to post.

Yes, PP just wants attention. “Look at me! I’m so cool that I don’t even care!!”

No, it's not about attention or being cool. I just wondered if I'm alone. I don't understand why people with zero connection DO care. I understand caring if you've been to England, have family from there, have some connection to the royal family, but if not ... why?

I think I understand your question and thought about it. Personally, there are a few people who I see as world "celebrities" who I have 0 connection to, but I pay attention to (so I guess I care). I think some of these people transcend their national borders and they come from all walks of life. They are people like Queen Elizabeth, Dali Lama, Mother Theresa, Oprah, Nelson Mandela and even the Pope. I'm sure you can think of other people, but I hope you get my point. These people have made a mark on the world in one way or another and are larger than life. Just my .02.

+1. She's one of the most famous people in the world, and most people respect her even if they don't agree with all of her previous actions.

Sophie has often been said to be closest to the Queen of the Royals.

I don’t believe they took all three kids to Philips funeral. Perhaps the same applies here.

Likely as part of the preparation for what’s to be routine for Operation Unicorn.

Perhaps she already passed. Also, if she's just very ill it's probably not appropriate for them to be there.

The Queen is reported to be extremely fond of Sophie.

The kids are in school and therefore possibly exposed to COVID. They don't need to be going to Balmoral to visit their frail and dying great-grandmother.

I’m surprised Carol isn’t watching the kids while Kate goes. Unless it has something to do with Meghan not going.

No source given for that information.

Makes sense — family only. William went w/o Kate.

Kate’s not family?

Their children’s first day at new school.

There were no children or anyone from their kids' generation at Phillip's funeral. The youngest person there was Edward's son, who is from William's generation.
