Yea, seems like a good way to refocus our efforts on the root cause of mental health crisis.

Great idea!!!

? "Mental health crisis" is a Republican talking point. See also: "Criminals."

The crisis is widespread retail access to assault weapons.

To that point, there's some sweet deals here if you're in the market:

https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/category.cfm/sportsman/ar-15-rifles

But, yes, the new term (replacing soggy old, failed "gun control") is Massacre Reduction.

“massacre reduction” is a democrat talking point. See also “common sense gun safety laws”

At least have the honesty to call it what you actually want: “gun bans and gun confiscation”

Just be honest about it. Let people decide on the real goal, rather than hiding it in deliberately non-specific euphemisms.

Fine:

We want to ban guns and confiscate them.

Don't be stupid. Not happening. Reinsitituing the Assault Weapons Ban is the workable goal.

DP that is stupid. The republicans will work just as hard to stop assault weapons bans, red flags laws or any common sense gun safety laws as a total ban on all weapons. Why waste the time and energy on 1/2 measures when the full ban will require the same lift?

Geezus, because a "ban on guns" won't happen, ever. The Assault Weapons Ban, which ran from 1994-2005, did a lot of good. Mass shootings skyrocketed after it "sunsetted." And here we are.

The majority wants that back so let's see if it is possible for the majority to get something in this so called representative democracy or the gun industry will continue to run over us all.

Will not happen. Republicans will fight tooth and nail to stop any gun reform or law restricting sales. There is no middle ground. It has been like this for 30 years.

People are just being purposely obtuse right now.
We have made fast societal and legal changes based on far fewer deaths.

Think about how a failed shoe bomber changed airline travel
Think about how we regulate fertilizers that have been used in bomb making
Think about childproof and tamper-proof packaging because of the Tylenol scare

We Change our lives everyday when we get new information to keep our citizens and members of society safe. Those who keep talking about open doors. Those are the same people who said cops were the answer and more guns were the answer. None of those are the answer.

It takes time. A long and careful strategy. Everything is important....voting rights, resist the "voting integrity" onslaught at all levels, court appointments, and money money money money money.

The game plan is clear from watching how they destroyed reproductive rights. That game plan works.

Lol sure it has been 30 years and the only laws that get past are ones that make it easier to buy guns anonymously. Also the goal of the pro life is a total ban on abortions not some 1/2 a$$ measures. If the democrats were talking about a total ban the republicans would quickly agree to anything less.

Let people decide on the goal? OK, simpleton, here's the goal: reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban. Fewer assault weapons in circulation means fewer mass shootings. Or are you fine with those?

These are some of the findings by the DOJ on the effectiveness of the ban.

The authors, using a variety of national and local data sources, examined market trends—prices, production, and thefts—for the banned weapons and close substitutes before estimating potential ban effects and theirconsequences.
● The research shows that the ban triggered speculative price increases and ramped-up production of the banned firearms prior to the law’s implementation, followed by a substantial postban drop in prices to levels of previous years.
● Criminal use of the banned guns declined, at least temporarily, after the law went into effect, which suggests that the legal stock of preban assault weapons was, at least for the short term, largely in the hands of collectors and dealers.
● Evidence suggests that the ban may have contributed to a reduction in the gun murder rate and murders of police officers by criminals armed with assault weapons.
The ban has failed to reduce the average number of victims per gun murder incident or multiple gunshot wound victims.

Including all 9mm handguns. There’s no rational basis to owning one.

So .45's are fine?

You realize that 9mm is one of the smaller bullets out there.

We are talking about the 9mms here. Try to follow along.

Fact is, these 9mms blow a persons lungs right out of their body.
