I don't mind. Republicans are the greatest evil to face this country and they need to be exposed at every turn. Starting from the local level.

You want a one-party system. That’s a terrible prospect, including at the local level.

DP. Two party is great if both parties support democracy and want to see our country succeed. The GOP is trying to tear everything down and doesn’t do anything in good faith.

The thread was started back in December 2021, well before Sabio was running. By that time Frisch had already pushed through one of the dumbest initiatives ever championed by an FCPS School Board member.

It’s now almost two years later and Frisch has done nothing to undo that incredibly poor decision. To the contrary, he tried to avoid responsibility by trying unsuccessfully to run for state office so he wouldn’t be around when the sh*t hit the fan. He only decided to run for school board again when it became obvious he had no political alternatives. Then he also voted to increase the salary of board members starting next year.

Sabio is a local hero for having helped a kid escape the Ukraine during hostilities, but even more importantly he is not Frisch. Frisch’s demonstrated incompetence should disqualify him from getting another term, but a lot of folks have no clue as to what a dope he is and just how much taxpayer money he is wasting.

Once again, all I hear is “Frisch Frisch Frisch.” Tell me WHY SHOULD I VOTE FOR TONY SABIO?

Helping a kid get out of Ukraine is cool and I commend him for serving his country, but I want to know what makes him qualified for school board and what policies he will actually implement.

You can read his platform: https://sabio4fairfax.com/platform

It’s a bit pointed to ask about Sabio’s “qualifications” when Frisch has no degree and obviously had no qualifications for the position in 2019 other than raising money for local Democrats, primarily from wealthy LBGTQ donors.

Regardless of how much you try to steer attention to Sabio, the fact that Frisch is currently wasting tens of millions of taxpayer money should not go ignored, as much as you might like to disregard that inconvenient truth.

That doesn't help those of us with kids who are in regular, non-AAP classes, though. They are still overcrowded, even after principal placement.

Yep. The new principal at Shrevewood was waking into a mess of overcrowding created by the former principal when she sat up the “local level IV” AAP instruction model at Shrevewood. She was an ineffective leader with a brilliant stroke of genius in that plan that effectively saved her job! By adding an AAP class to Shrevewood one grade-level at a time for four straight years, she was able retain the high test-scorers that used to defect to Lemon Road. And yes, it created a horrible overcrowding issue at Shrevewood, but this simple maneuver of retaining one more grade of high test scorers every year until there was an AAP class in every grade from 3rd to 6th, the school’s testing performance increased every single year, so it made it appear on paper that her leadership was yielding incredible results.

New principal has plenty of faults too, but he inherited the overcrowding and the feelings of resentment that the presence of local level AAP created within the school’s culture.
The parents whose kids left for lemon road AAP in the past couple of years didn’t have a choice because new principal shut down local level IV. He knows it’s an immediate solution to the overcrowding because they’ll go to their AAP center. And maybe it will fix the 2-tiered culture that had infiltrated Shrevewood too. That’s not a terrible thing. Not sure he’s prepared to answer for the test score slide that will result in grades 3-6, but maybe he won’t have to.

That’s it.
That’s the answer.
And honestly, sometimes (and specifically here)—that’s more than sufficient.

In fact, I’d argue that it’s the exact same reason that many of us voted for Biden. The alternative was Trump!
(And why Trump voters voted for him in 2016…the alternative was Hillary !!)

Tony Sabio also has no degree.

I moved to this district from Dranesville in 2020. I did not vote for Frisch in 2019. The fact is he is the incumbent and has always been responsive to me so his experience and qualification is clear.

I’m not seeing anything substantive on Tony Sabio’s website. He says he wants to improve school safety by:

Identifying risk and providing real mitigations. How? This is extremely vague.
Increase the infrastructure budget to strengthen school facilities. What specifically do you want to increase? The capital budget is funded by bonds which he hasn’t endorsed and the Fairfax GOP of which he’s a member opposes.
Create comprehensive Emergency Response Manuals coupled with proper training. This is already current state law. He seems very uninformed.

If you look at the other two issues on his website, it’s the game vague platitudes. He goes in no detail about what he actually wants to do.

If you go to Karl Frisch’s website he actually goes in detail about what he has accomplished. I want details!

Thanks! This is telling. The only reason you are voting for Sabio is because he is not Frisch. You have no excitement for him, are not energized for him, etc.

“I’m not Karl Frisch,” seems to be Tony Sabio’s entire platform. Not enough to get me to vote for him.

If you thought Shrevewood was still overcrowded then the solution was to move part of Shrevewood to Stenwood and part of Stenwood to Freedom Hill. That could have been done already and expeditiously without waiting for years for Dunn Loring to get built and create a glut of space. Either way, there has been a significant reduction in Shrevewood’s enrollment in recent years and it is now projected in the CIP to remain below capacity.

Not PP, nor is simply not being Frisch Sabio’s entire platform, so stop with the lies. However, Frisch absolutely deserves to be booted. He’s an imbecile and if he gets another term you know very well he’ll look to run for another office as soon as the opportunity presents itself. He has the brains of a flea and the attention span of a gnat.

Does this drop in projection indicate the county believes many families will be sending their kinders directly to private? Young families are still moving into the boundary. Future projections are vastly different than a few years back.

Again, you keep saying this but go into no detail about what Sabio actually wants to do.

He has THREE issues listed on his website, and none of them go into specifics. I’ve seen more detailed platforms for student government!

The CIP projections are especially useless post-COVID. While Shrevewood may stay below capacity, the current low enrollment cohort (3rd/4th grade) will roll off in a few years.

Well at least Frisch doesn’t try to shake hands with the empty space in front of him and can climb stairs without falling every step and a half.
He may be an incompetent representation who wastes taxpayer dollars and unnecessarily complicates school capacity concerns, but he’s not a dementia patient.
