N95s are readily available. |
And I already wear them. N95s will protect me mostly. If someone coughs right in my face, which has happened pre covid in MoCo, unfortunately the n95 mask doesn't help me 100%. And I have an invisible chronic health condition. But it's ok. I have accepted that I just won't be able to do what most people do. |
Yes, it clear that not even an MRI can see your invisible condition, that even the n95 can't help. |
Come off it. The n95s help significantly, like 90+%. Thing is, they are not fitted N95s like for hospital use, so are usually less effective than hospital use. They would help almost 100% if other people wore them. but from this thread you can tell that many people are scared of any masks for unknown reasons. I have an autoimmune condition, with a doctor's diagnosis and lab tests and everything. My vaccinated friend who had MS wore an N95 mask while teaching in Florida, and none of the kids wore them. She is now dead. Like I said, go out and have your maskless fun. But those of us with autoimmune conditions (and other medical conditions) won't be there unless they are freedum fighters. Hopefully you don't have an undiagnosed medical condition you don't know about pp. |
| I know this thread is about COVID specifically but I would like to see the same precautions and protocols left in place over flu season to include proof of vaccination for employment and certain venues as well as masking when outside of one’s home. |
Will anyone save us from these people? How about you stay home for the rest of your life? Please, please do it. |
According to the NIH, MS does not represent a factor of significant increased risk for severe COVID-19 complications and death. "Currently, these risk factors appear to represent the consequences of MS and patients’ associated comorbidities rather than MS itself. Except for some anti-CD20 therapies, the use of DMT does not seem to be a risk factor for COVID-19 in MS. Therefore, MS and its treatments are most likely not strong risk factors for COVID-19, contrary to what was once thought. Instead, we should start tailoring our risk-models to look at the characteristics of our MS patients individually." |
You are very dramatic. Your posts have the opposite effect than you likely intend. |
Actually the saving we need is from anti-vaxers and anti-maskers, two groups that increase transmission of the flu to others-exactly the same for COVID. Why accept needless risk? |
You accept so-called needless risk all the time with every decision you make. We accept that risk because we prefer the option with risk. 50/50 you are a troll though. |
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34010764/ Abstract Background: Infections can trigger exacerbations of multiple sclerosis (MS). The effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on MS are not known. The aim of this study was to understand the impact of COVID-19 on new and pre-existing symptoms of MS. Methods: The COVID-19 and MS study is an ongoing community-based, prospective cohort study conducted as part of the United Kingdom MS Register. People with MS and COVID-19 were invited by email to complete a questionnaire about their MS symptoms during the infection. An MS exacerbation was defined as developing new MS symptoms and/or worsening of pre-existing MS symptoms. Results: Fifty-seven percent (230/404) of participants had an MS exacerbation during their infection; 82 developed new MS symptoms, 207 experienced worsened pre-existing MS symptoms, and 59 reported both. Disease modifying therapies (DMTs) reduced the likelihood of developing new MS symptoms during the infection (OR 0.556, 95%CI 0.316-0.978). Participants with a higher pre-COVID-19 webEDSS (web-based Expanded Disability Status Scale) score (OR 1.251, 95%CI 1.060-1.478) and longer MS duration (OR 1.042, 95%CI 1.009-1.076) were more likely to experience worsening of their pre-existing MS symptoms during the infection. Conclusion: COVID-19 infection was associated with exacerbation of MS. DMTs reduced the chance of developing new MS symptoms during the infection. https://www.wnct.com/health/coronavirus/vaccinated-indian-trail-woman-with-multiple-sclerosis-beats-covid/ INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) – An Indian Trail woman who has multiple sclerosis and was vaccinated says she almost lost her life to COVID. She’s sharing her struggle and hoping to save lives. Lindsey Howe looks like the picture of health. You wouldn’t know she has multiple sclerosis. She was at the beach with her son and didn’t think much about it when she developed a cough. “I was just in such denial because I’m fully vaccinated. I try to take precautions but you have this vaccination kind of giving you this false sense of security,” said Howe. Howe is usually the one caring for patients as a neonatal nurse practitioner, but on her 31st birthday, she became the patient... I'm excited all y'all antimaskers get to create herd immunity for the rest of us. |
We’ve seen people suggesting maintaining masking throughout the Covid pandemic for similar reasons as above. We have flu vaccines. The government should apply the same pressure to vaccinate for the flu and at the same time maintain enhanced mitigation protocols as it did for Covid. Why throw off the positive prevention measures that worked for reducing the spread of Covid? |
I actually think there would have been a half way decent chance people in the DMV did that if people could actually make clearer defensible recommendations on taking off masks for certain covid rates. But when you are one of the most vaccinated counties in the country and you have posters still talking like we’re reckless and masks have no costs, that’s not going to happen. |
Which other counties in the US and countries in the world are still masks with MoCo’s vaccination rate? |
I still don’t understand why you refuse to purchase something like the MIRA respirator and use it on your own? Why do you want instead to have a government force us to do something unprecedented in human social history for your personal comfort? Here you go. This is for you. It has full CBRNE protection. This is serious. Why won’t you do it and leave the rest of us to live our lives as normal? https://www.mirasafety.com/products/cm-6m-tactical-gas-mask |
