Why wait if it's not a problem now, and won't be in the future because it will be solved by the time batterries reach their life end? With the used car market those batteries will likely be on the road for 15-20 years more. Why aren't you waiting on buying a gas car until we solve global warming? Because it's not a problem now. LOL at the ethanol comparison which is entirely government driven, can you name a $1B ethanol startup? Sure some startups fail, but when this amount of smart money is poured to jump start an entire industry there will be winners. |
Yet, millions of people take road trips in their fully electric cars all the time. And surprize! There's even charging infrastructure all over the coutry to support those road trips. So flying is bad for the environment, but gas cars are fine? OK... sure. |
How often do you just drive 500 miles straight without going home? If you have private parking, you can plug your car in at home in less time than it takes to fill it up at a gas station. Time to charge and overall range are really only an issue for a road trip. |
Would'a, could'a, shoud'a. Rent a Tesla for your next 500 mile trip, then your opinion on convenience will be worthy of consideration. |
There aren't millions of people in the US WITH electric cars. I saw it firsthand a couple of years ago -- a DC couple brought their electric car to a beach location 5 hours away. They spent FOREVER trying to locate charging stations, plotting a very specific route, etc. and that was all tossed in the wind when the planned charging stations were broken or had long lines. The whole group was sick to death of hearing about their electric car woes, so much so they didn't get invited back the next year. I'll wait until the infrastructure catches up. And no, I have zero desire to "rent a Tesla." What an out of touch suggestion. |
Before you embarrass yourself further: https://cleantechnica.com/2021/08/26/tesla-model-3-has-passed-1-million-sales/ |
You are so hilarious with your made up stories about how bad electric cars are. Ahhh, the mythical non-stop trip of 500 miles that turns out its more of 400 miles. Then the people with bad electric car experience. First it's the neighbor, then your mom (lol at the meme), then the acquaintance couple on the beach trip that were socially ostracized due to their car woes (oh no, I dont want that to happen to me, lol!!!) On top of that you have absolutly no real life experience with electric cars, know nothing about battery recycling, car market, renewable energy, but feel entitled to quip these thought gems as if they are intellectual treasures. You sweet, cute, precious, little, troll you! |
You are so naive and stupid. The story above DID IN FACT happen. I was there. The couple was a PITA. They weren't ostracized because of the electric car, but because of their ridiculous behavior over it. But it obviously wasn't convenient. I don't have any neighbors or a mother with an electric car. Funnily enough, you think only one person on DCUM isn't fond of electric cars! What a clown. As of the end of 2020, there were 1.74 million electric cars sold in the US, BTW. "Millions" is plural. There aren't millions in the US. There is currently no battery recycling. You are making yourself look more of a fool than you actually are, hard as that may be to do. |
|
It's 2021, there are over 2 million electric cars in US, does that satisfy your thirst for gramatical accuracy?
I know there is only one person behind the anti EV posts, because I can't imagine there is another person making arguments as dumb as yours. You are truly unique in this respect. |
|
I just read Bill Gates's climate change book. He recommends buying electric, primarily to show companies that there's demand. That's GREAT, and part of me wishes I'd done so over hybrid, but there are still things that need to be done to make electric the 100% no-brainer choice.
Until that happens, responses to this Q will be all over the map. |
| Yes! |
|
Come on dude, are you that lame with those sock puppet posts?
Sigh! |
It might, if you knew how to spell "grammatical." I hope the other posters you are referring to (the neighborhood ones and the one whose mom bought an EC) are laughing at you as much as I am. The figures aren't out yet for 2021. It's still 2021. But if there ARE, I doubt very much every single one of them has road-tripped with their electric cars. Many people aren't traveling because of COVID. |
BTW, following up -- feel free to ask Jeff if we are the same. PLEASE do! |
|
ok Jeff, as much as I enjoy making fun of you, I got something else to do.
Meanwhile, please post more about your 500 mile trip and how terrible electric cars are based on the experience of your mom (lol, it never gets old). |
