I don’t think the window of time would make a difference. Parents are in line waiting by 3pm for a 335 dismissal. Letting the time parents pick up be later won’t make a difference to these people. They will wait 40 min to get their child 5 min earlier.

This is so true. On Tuesday they were already queuing up by 2:50pm. I guess some people just want to be the first one to pick up their child. Period.

I just wish one of those people were here to tell us WHY. I don't understand, I really don't.

I would imagine that at least a few of the people on some days have an appointment they want to get their kid to at 4pm or something, so waiting way beforehand to make sure they make the 4pm ortho appt, or music lesson, or whatever is what they think they have to do to make the appt on time.

This makes sense.

The sidewalk builders didn't seem to work the past 2 days on Kirby.

Sure it does, but also maybe don't schedule your kids so tightly?

I wonder what time the last car goes through the KnR loop?

Kid ends up with more downtime/homework time etc. If they go straight from school to dentist or vocal lessons, as opposed to going home and then having to leave again in 30-45 minutes, and then come back home.

or, maybe it's the only time you can get with an instructor 20 min away

Exactly, the school can’t change the end of the day and can’t control when parents line up. If they don’t line up at the school because of a barrier, they’ll be back on the street.

Lots of reasons: something scheduled right after school, parents get out of work at 2:30 and going to the school is easier than going home for 20 minutes, SAHM is running errands and is out and about already, parent is picking up MS student and it already in the car. Plenty of reasons.

It seems like the sidewalk construction has not really started.

+1. I did not see any workers along Kirby yet. Any one know when the sidewalk project is suppose to start?

The workers have been cutting down trees in front of some of the houses where sidewalks will go. They replaced those white ribbons showing how far the sidewalk will go into each property with that low construction-style fencing with black plastic sheeting. And they've been installing roadwork signage on Halsey. Hopefully they are going to do as much work as possible before blocking off the road.

I’ve noticed the karate school van in line every day, and is usually one of the first vehicles. I suspect many sitting there waiting, like the karate school driver, may be paid for their time, like babysitters and such. So while it may be hard to understand why parents do this, it isn’t so hard to imagine a sitter, who otherwise is waiting at the house, and is responsible to get Lila to her dance class/tutoring/violin etc on time each week.

What is the plan? Will they put sidewalk on both sides of Kirby?

So far I have only seen the workers along Kirby in the morning.

Wow. The white ribbon is quite far back.
