It seems clear that CC is realizing you cannot build a winning team by picking up second-rate players from clubs like Great Falls. We are no longer in the DA days when top talent naturally gravitated toward certain programs. Local clubs have overextended themselves by moving to MLS Next for boys and oversaturating the GA model.
Players currently being discarded from TSJ are seeking other options, though many were not top-tier to begin with. As other clubs pick them up, teams will consolidate, with NVA likely emerging as the winner. LS and VRSC will also pick up a few players; in fact, VRSC has already brought in some solid players from SYC. I expect the Champions League to move to NVA within two years. While VRSC and NC teams will likely remain only moderately competitive due to losing players to ECNL clubs, it is evident that D1 schools primarily recruit from the ECNL. Interestingly, an insider mentioned that more D1 recruits are coming out of VRSC, NVA, and LS, which is quite surprising. |
Is that what it says on your cool GA shirt? Scouts go to watch games with clubs that have a history of developing kids. Why waste your time looking for a needle in a haystack. |
Actually, scouts go to watch games where kids have already been in contact with them by sending emails, film, and expressed interest. Scouts already have their list of players to watch before the showcase begins. They don’t have time to waste watching players who have not shown interest and are not on their radar already. |
You are clearly a GA dreamer parent. What you’re referring to are the colleges who come to get a few cleanup players after they’ve filled their rosters at ECNL events. The numbers this year are clear 75-25 ECNL vs ga. The coaches know who the top clubs are and will take players from those clubs over lower level ga or ECNL clubs. Every player on a top team from a top club is recruited. |
You assess a club by “top college recruits”? Sorry, that is all pay to play language. It needs to change. Watch the World Cup this summer, dork. Count how many FCV “top college recruits” feature there. If you find any, see if they match up at the highest level. |
Reminds me of the line from Billy Madison. We are all stupider from having read that. |
I'll help you...zero. FCV has one pro player at KC. Sad for a club that was so so so top tier for almost 10 years. |
100%. They work really hard to control the narrative and oversell themselves. |

Have you gobbled your coach yet? |
U13s just got smoked. It’s over for VRSC for this year. |
