It’s also easier to get into Harvard than Montgomery Colleger. |
Very true. The athletes at Prep (like most schools) tend to not meet the same standards as your student body. It’s the same at Universities. And since this is a lacrosse forum, fair callout. |
|
Let’s be serious, if you take out a good chunk of the Prep boarding component, the college matriculation list is not much better than their rival schools.
What percent of their boarding students are international? |
25% board at Prep, but it’s college matriculation list remains quite impressive—not as much as STA but far better than GZ and other peer schools. The biggest difference in college matriculation between Prep and GZ is the bottom half of the class. Prep kids attend far better colleges. BTW, looking at college matriculation at the bottom half of a class is probably one of the most accurate measures of a school’s academic reputation and rigor. |
Here is Prep’s Class of 2021 college matriculation list (a little light on the Ivies but overall pretty impressive): https://www.gprep.org/about/news/~post/class-of-2021-matriculation-list-20210518 |

In terms of MD pipeline swing back towards Prep, its a well known fact in the Catholic community GZ tends to reject the "problem childs" from MD and Prep generally tends to accept them especially if they are "full pay" families.
|
So are you suggesting that the majority of the kids from Mater Dei attending Prep are problem children and that’s why the trend reversed itself? It’s also we’ll know that GZ won’t accept an applicant if they know it’s a backup choice to Prep. |
| Can anyone go to game at Catholic today? |
Yes. Even Gonzaga fans, but they have to wear shirts. |
2 per player. |
| Hard limit 2 fans per player. And fans have to wear masks outside even if vaccinated. It’s like stepping back in time. Gotta love the District. |

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Prep wins comfortably today over SJC 4+ goals. In my opinion, JC is closer to Bullis, Landon and Saint Stephens this Spring. The Cadets in particular are way over hyped by Ty Xanders based on club lacrosse commits.
1. SJC hasn't been battle tested this Spring. The WCAC is clearly down this Spring and the IAC seems to be up. GP has played Landon 3x, Bullis 3x and SS/SA 2x. 2. Prep has more depth at all positions in the field 3. Seniors win championships, GP roster is littered with seniors. They can handle adversity better than underclassmen. 13 - 9 Prep over SJC |
Not the District's fault. Can't be. I went to Nats game without mask. Back to lax, SJC is down at Fogo. If it's a transition game, Prep wins. If it's 6-on-6, SJC wins. SJC kids have way better sticks, GZ has great athletes and best Fogo in the country. The Lehigh commit is going to have to take draws based on what I saw in GZ game video and that will tire him out for close D where they need his stick. Most skilled close D in the area. |
GZ IS a fantastic school with great history, wonderful community, strong academics and an amazing athletic program. With that said, for the GZ boosters to suggest even for a second that the rest of the world holds GZ in higher overall regard than Prep (outside of athletics) is a complete and utter fallacy. All the nonsense about “Earned not given” and “the real world” are digs at Prep and are signs of the inferiority complex that GZ boosters suffer from. GZ will NEVER match the prestige of Prep. Prep will always offer more of what lacrosse families (as opposed to other sports) want. |
Group of Sophomores beat Prep handily last year. One year won’t make a difference. Same result |
