Obama's birth certificate, how we know it exists and why you haven't seen it

It exists, the long form with doctor signature is verified, and there is no provision under state law to allow the distribution of anything more than the short form, even to Obama. This comes from the former director. And he accurately predicts that anything additional will be called fake anyway.

So if you still can't handle the truth, turn Hawaii into a red state and pass a law.

I was just reading this and was going to post it, too. But, there is honestly nothing Obama can do to appease these nuts. One of my insane tea party friends tried to argue that he might have been born in HI, but he had to have renounced his american citizenship at 4 or whenever his mom moved them to Indonesia. So he couldn't possibly still be a citizen even if he were born in HI. This same person was posting about Obama's college records and rumored secret brain surgery - there is just no convincing these people that Obama isn't the Manchurian candidate.

I guess I don't understand why this is such an issue. Obama was born to an American citizen, therefore he is an American citizen, no matter WHERE he was born.

Just drop it already! Aren't there more important issues to be debating?

Being born to an American citizen makes one a citizen in all ways, except that required for the Presidency. That requires that you must be born on US soil ("natural born"), which includes US military installations overseas (e.g where John McCain was born). I think the funniest thing was that Trump challenged Obama to present his birth certificate. Then Trump could only present the same type of certificate that Obama has.

I say, relax the 'natural born' citizen requirement and let Arnold Schwarzenegger run for Pres.

Can you give some documentation of the precise meaning of "natural born"? My understanding is that, although what you described is the traditional understanding, it has never been adjudicated because it has never come up in practice.

It is true that the court has not decided that all citizens born to Americans are "Natural Born citizen". However, the court has also not decided the status of people born on military bases, despite what conservatives have said. If that were the case, then it was silly for the senate to draft legislation in 2008 making it so. They in fact never got around to passing it, probably because few if anyone cared to question John McCain's status, and of course because he did not win.

He should just do tha before elecition day so independents van decide if its ok with them to have a foriegn President. It's so easy just to release it. But he must think it's damaging in some way. Sorry, he will need it in order to be on the ballow in numerous states. They are passing laws as we speak. FUN!
