Saints appeared a bit sloppy with some players not moving ball well/taking bad shots, defense holding ball too long with turnovers while SR showed aggressive, physical play and a few ref calls in their favor.... One loss after 17 wins is still pretty darn good.
Congrats to SR!
Same story - different year for Saints. Play a cupcake schedule to try to get ranked and fold like a cheap tent when it really matters. Recruits or no recruits - same result.
SR will win the ISL
SR and SSSA have had very similar outcomes against the same teams this year. They are very evenly matched.
It’s tough however to beat a team twice in a row especially in such a short period and SSSA will probably be counting on that in the finals. Should be another good game.
SR is odds on favorite. Opposing teams need to punch them in the mouth like they do. Hit back hard and be aggressive.
It was a close 1-2 goal game the whole way with lead changes, good players on both sides. Key stretch was SSSAS up 7-6 in second half with alot of momentum with a couple chances to go up two and didn’t convert. SR grabbed momentum and it was back and forth the rest of the game. SSSAS had ball with 2 min left and tie game and turned it over, SR scores a runner with 7 seconds left that hit left pipe to win it with SSSAS down a player on yellow. Officials had a rough day, largely because they weren’t aligned within the crew on how to call the physicality, so the inconsistencies persisted the full game.
Overall, SR played well enough to win it, and SSSAS poorly enough to lose it. SSSAS controlled draws but the story was unforced turnovers that SR maximized. SR very fortunate to win that game. We’ll see if both teams take care of business to get a rematch in the ISL finals. Visi and Potomac aren’t slouches, and can’t sleep on either. Prediction is either SR by 1 again or SSSAS wins going away by 3+.
