The state will present evidence that is sufficient for AP to be required to stand trial. That is why a prelim happens fairly quickly. It will be reported on in the media, WP and several tv outlets have covered the case, assume outlets like DM will dip in here and there. People are curious and want the infiltered information and to get the vibe that does not come across in the newspaper, perhaps. Courts are open to the public, no reason not to attend, schedule permitting.

Thank you PP! |
IRS-CI agent here. There are several CI agents lurking here. I don't know any inside info about BB. I never met him. I believe that the IRS along with TIGTA would have attempted to interview him after advising BB of Kalkines warning. IRS and TIGTA would be very, very interested in the facts surrounding the discharge of a IRS weapon causing death (or great bodily harm). Kalkines is interesting because one would be required to answer questions from the IRS / TIGTA. The information provided could not be used to incriminate him. I understand he would be terminated if he didn't answer those questions under Kalkines. In my experience, agents that are waiting for HR/IRS management to make a determination about what happens to them are mothballed. They don't often work on active cases in the interim. I suspect that he hasn't drawn a IRS paycheck for. a while. |
Interesting, thanks. Would the IRS be in contact with the VA investigators? |
Does anybody know what is this Arraignment scheduled for tomorrow? |

"A motion is an application to the court made by the prosecutor or defense attorney, requesting that the court make a decision on a certain issue before the trial begins." Is this normal? |
Yes. Very. |
Is there a way to know details of what it is? |
I don't know how much detail you can see on the FFX Co. docket online. I'm guessing not a lot or you wouldn't be asking. You can call the clerk, who may or may not tell you. If you can find out who from the Washington Post or any other local news outlets have covered this, you could message them. Or you can go down to the courthouse and ask to look at the file. |
Completely normal, other motions have been filed in this matter. The preliminary hearing is discussed above. An arraignment is different and earlier. AP was arraigned on 10/16/23.

To clarify above, she was not granted bail at her arraignment and despite several bond motions, AP is still in custody in VA. Bail can be denied for reasons such as danger to the public or in her case, flight risk, since she is Brazilian. |
UGH, the thing tomorrow will be delayed due to the weather. We wait. |
It's the second motion hearing, will likely last a short time and is likely focused on a procedural or evidentiary point. The WP did do a subsequent story on the first motions hearing, I don't know if that will happen again or if that coverage will be folded in with coverage of the preliminary hearing. I think there will be a lot of that, both print and tv, on the 17th or in following days. It will give everyone a much better look at the Commonwealth's case against her. |
Unfortunately the VA court site does not give a lot of detail, unlike DC. Several reporters who have done tv or print stories are on social media, another place to look for info. The reporter who covered the 1st motions hearing for WP would be a good person to ask, if they did not take the buy out. |
