Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

When you read the article, you will see that it is a perfect example of this administration's horrible border policies and the nightmare of progressive law enforcement rolled into one. He breaks multiple laws and is repeatedly let out on no bail.

He is the wanted poster boy for the migrant crisis.

A man who arrived in New York City two months ago from Venezuela has randomly attacked at least three strangers and two cops, and gotten arrested – and released – six times on 14 different charges, police and sources said.

Daniel Hernandez Martinez, 29, arrived on June 27 and allegedly committed his first crime the following day.

“He’s been wreaking havoc,” a cop with more than 20 years on the job said.

“This is not an isolated incident. These migrants are getting arrested quite often here, and we really don’t know who they are. They really don’t have ID. They’re not being vetted properly, but some of them are committing some of the most violent crimes here.”

And yet 1/6ers who have done very little are serving decades.

I think we need to identify WHO SPECIFICALLY has been making these brilliant decisions to keep releasing repeat offenders and blast THEIR names and exactly how they were put in their position to make those decisions from the rooftops.
This random-gesturing-around-blaming-'the dems' crap obviously isn't working.

It’s NYC. Pick a dem

Part of the package deal from the smugglers is a story to get through asylum. They say they were at a protest then tortured by police or something to that effect. Asylum law makes it so you can get asylum with no documentary evidence, just testimony.

What a scam. Evidence must be mandatory. Anyone can lie.

Why are Democrats orchestrating/supporting open borders?

This is a sad point in my life where I realize for perhaps the first time the wheels of government are intentionally working to undermine the will of the people. This isn’t a question of the people legitimately being overruled by the bill of rights. It’s a simple policy question.

Yes it is like Fox News and the republican pushing the fake border crisis story. The crisis only exist on Fox News.

Broaden your sources, pp. This has been a crisis since Biden took office. And, this administration continues to lie about how bad it is.... Mayorkas, KJP, and even Biden himself.

We had a border crisis during all of Trump's administration too. But I guess you think it's fine to lie and pretend we didn't.

DP. When will you stop gaslighting and admit that Biden's administration has seen the highest numbers at the border in TWENTY YEARS?? As reported in multiple news sources? Idiot.

Not in twenty years. The highest number EVER. In our nation's history.

+1
True - I was thinking of earlier in Biden's administration when the numbers first hit the highest in 20 years. Of course, since then, they've gone even farther. But the gaslighting PP would never in a million years admit those facts.

JFC. Send this criminal back to Venezuela and DO NOT let him in again! What is wrong with Democrats?? Your bolded statement is spot-on.

I hope and pray that the 2024 candidates for US President will be other than the two current front runners as I am still a single issue voter focused on controlling our borders.

Who would be candidates in favor of strict border control ?

Thank you in advance for any thoughtful response to this question.

I think both candidates are abysmal, but at least we know which one would take the border crisis seriously.

A little historical perspective is useful. We think of immigration in the First Great Wave in the the late 19th and earliest 20th century as being much higher on a per capita basis than later immigration. During the peak of that immigration 1900-1914, the yearly immigration rate averaged 892,000/yr; of course the U.S. population in 1910 was only 92 million. That gives a per capita immigration rate of 1.0%/yr. an extraordinary number.

How does that compare to the rate under open-borders Joe?

3.5 million/yr. with a 2020 population of 331 million gives a per capita rate of 1.1%/yr., which strikes me as completely deranged, but since Biden is president, perhaps the proper descriptor is demented.

It has not always been that way. From 1947 to 1960 the average immigration rate was 252,000/yr., and with a 1950 population of 151 million that is a per capita rate of 0.17%, At that rational immigration level inflation and unemployment were low, wages rose rapidly and we built the most prosperous blue collar (2/3 of workers) middle class in history.

Folks, I am a retired university professor and I did blue collar jobs to save money for college and to work my way through. There is no job that Americans will not do. However, a young man starting a blue collar career now will quickly realize that he will not live as well as his father did, nor even his grandfather.

Rehoboth beach has tons of rental properties that can house thousands of families. We need to force all the DC dwellers who have a rental there to foster few families. Lets churn Rehoboth into San Francisco.

Agree, time to get all these wealthy people to open up their unused space to the migrants. That is true social justice. From the haves, to the have nots.

Exactly. Time for Democrats to walk their talk.
Share your unused living space with a few migrants.
Why not?

Really interesting how with social media it is so easy to find loopholes in order to make it to the southern border.

I work with immigrants and my parents came from Latin America so I have always been pro immigrant and for understanding how immigration helps the US. In the past the undocumented migrants I have worked with have been for the most part really appreciative of any help and because they don’t have papers are willing to work hard to survive. They know they won’t get government handouts.

The last 2-3 years many asylum seekers have been incredibly demanding and entitled. It’s a whole different vibe because they sought asylum and so are documented. They want everything and many (certainly not all but way too many) don’t feel like they need to work hard. I dislike how undocumented immigrants who came here as children, attended schools here (the DACA dreamers) don’t have legal status yet these asylum dealers do. Totally unfair for so many that came in the past 0-3 years are cutting the line so to speak.

So you’re saying the people currently jumping the immigration line are jumping in front of other line jumpers? I’m pro-controlled immigration (eg, scrutinize every person coming in and their case for asylum etc, having a system to know where people physically are until they are approved to stay indefinitely). I’m against the fee-for-all that immigration has become. Seems that US citizens on the border have little to no support while those walking across the border unchecked get more.
