Can you imagine lawyers in any other forum - criminal or civil - writing a letter saying “nope, my client doesn’t like this, he’s not participating?” Of course not. This a political propaganda not real legal arguments.

It is being reported now that the timeline for this scandal is at least months earlier, in terms of Perry's involvement. Further, Pence and Giuliani met with the Ukrainians months earlier than reported, Feb. 2019 I believe.

These people looked at Watergate and the lesson they learned is that Nixon (and the GOP) gave in too easily.

Trump abused his power by asking a foreign country to investigate his political opponent in exchange for military aid. You know, sort of the same thing Hillary was accussed of, except she had no military aid to withold.

And now he is obstructing Congress in their attempts to investigate Trump's actions, which they have every to do under the Constitution.

The extortion for arms started in 2017 with the previous Ukrainian President when the Trump Administration got Lutsenko to stop three investigations that were related to Manafort to get a shipment of javelins. This is from a 2018 NYT article:

“At least three criminal cases related to Mr. Manafort’s work had been opened, but none have identified him as a suspect, a distinction in Ukrainian law that is close to a formal indictment.
Late last year, the Ukrainian government effectively suspended the investigations as it negotiated with the Trump administration for the supply of anti-tank missiles sought by the Ukrainian military as a deterrent against a Russian attack.”
