President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Republicans has slipped slightly across several major polls, marking a rare decline in support within his core base.
A new John Zogby Strategies survey conducted on October 12 found that 80 percent of Republican voters approved of Trump’s performance, down from 85 percent in August. Similarly, a YouGov poll published on October 13 showed 84 percent of Republicans expressing approval, compared with 88 percent in mid-September. Meanwhile, the latest Quantus poll recorded approval among Republicans at 86 percent, a 3-point drop from 89 percent in late September. |
j So 43% of this country is absolutely stupid. |
| I don't get the CNN piece. Just about every poll has Trump down significantly and shows the public generally blames the GOP for the shutdown. |
| Gunther celebrating the dead cat bounce for the most hayed President in history. |

Beware the Trump economy
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/economy/americans-are-more-worried-about-their-chances-on-the-job-market-under-trump-ap-norc-poll-finds WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans are growing increasingly concerned about their ability to find a good job under President Donald Trump, an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll finds, in what is a potential warning sign for Republicans as a promised economic boom has given way to hiring freezes and elevated inflation. High prices for groceries, housing and health care persist as a fear for many households, while rising electricity bills and the cost of gas at the pump are also sources of anxiety, according to the survey. Some 47% of U.S. adults are "not very" or "not at all confident" they could find a good job if they wanted to, an increase from 37% when the question was last asked in October 2023. |
That’s not the choice. It is: a) talk about the problem by blaming some minority group and never fix it* b) talk about policy in wonk terms, face opposition, and cobble something together, then lose credit for it. *the only accomplishment Trump has is banning 12 trans athletes. He’s had a lot of arrests of law-abiding immigrants while failing to actually deport criminal — please check Google to easily verify. |
It’s not about how you perceive the choice. It’s about how the persuadable subset of voters perceive the choice. |

The Economist
The president's net approval rating is -17%, down 0.5 points since last week. 39% approve, 56% disapprove, 5% not sure This is basically the basement 39% of Americans are willing henchmen in his criminal cult. They won't budge until he starts losing power. Then they'll swear they never voted for him. |
| That cannot happen soon enough, but, not wishing misery on anyone, the SNAP and ACA cuts hard in red states, so, maybe that will help lift the fog. |
| Not when there is even more gerrymandering and voter suppression and GOP operatives have bought all the voting machine companies. |
