I’m 38, and grew up watching this show. Which is maybe why I liked the Tik Tok lawyer because she did also, she admitted to “fan girling” when Jessa spoke to her.

“Shock” isn’t the word, because I’m not shocked. But going from watching the show and enjoying the show…watching josh and Anna’s wedding…to watching Anna in that dress get into a SUV is so, so jarring to me.

Jill was smart and had just two kids she can handle on her own - with or without Derick. Anna has 7. She's stuck with Jim Bob and Michelle.

I loathe the Duggars, but that link gives me a teeny bit of hope that some of the younger kids won't grow up to be so horribly misogynistic - seeing the boys doing many of the same chores are the girls. Hopefully not just for the photos.

Her brother offered a way out, and she continued to have more kids with a pedophile. Sometimes, even women, can be terrible people and choose to put their kids in terrible situations. Anna is just as awful as Michelle - they're grown ass women who are incredibly privileged in many ways (media access, social media presence). I fear for her kids, but I have exactly zero sympathy for Anna.

I still do have some sympathy for her. I hope her brother keeps reaching out, but the kind of brainwashing committed upon girls and women vs boys and men in those fud-up fundie families are leagues different.

Here’s the thing. You can’t say Anna was brainwashed and Josh wasn’t. Either folks are responsible for their adult choices or they aren’t. One could argue that Josh grew up in a disturbing, emotionally troubled home where he may have been abused - but he’s still responsible for what he did.
