'21-22' DMV LACROSSE OUTLOOK

GZ thinks they should be #2 behind SJC because the beat a couple of IAC teams. IAC is relatively weak this year compared to WCAC. For GZ to legitimately be a #2 they will need to win every game except against SJC. I predict GZ will lose 4-5 games.

Please try to be somewhat informed--GZ beat one IAC team....Landon. GZ did beat two MIAA teams, one who was ranked #2 in US. Get your facts straight.

You've never seen a team put in back-ups and try some different things when up by a lot, only to lose their lead and have to gain it back? Are you new to sports?

GZ can beat St. John’s. Any given day

Have you even looked at their schedule. Maybe 2 loses

Not a Gonzaga fan but not sure how you don't think they should be ranked #2 in the DC area - wins of Loyola, McDonogh and Landon are impressive - especially the McDonogh victory.

My rankings are as follows;

1. SJC
2. Gonzaga
3. Prep
4. Bullis
5. PVI
6. SS/SA
7. Landon
8. St. Albans
9. DeMatha
10. Episcopal

Prep is not better than PVI and Bullis. They will be lucky to score more than 4 against Bullis.

PVI is phenomenal this year. The heights just put up a good fight.

Rankings go

SJC
PVI
GZ
Bullis
Prep

I’m questioning how good PVI really is. I would have thought they would have knocked the piss out of the Heights yesterday but they really didn’t. They had a big lead in the first half but Heights made it a little interesting in the 2nd half. Reminder the Heights only beat Sidwell Friends by a goal.

This is how I would rank the top 6 (IAC, WCAC teams only)

1. SJC
2. GZ
3. Prep
4. Bullis
5. PVI
6. St Stephens

HM: Landon, STA

I was at the PVI game yesterday. Heights brought it within 2 with just 6 minutes left and then PVI defender took an extremely dirty late hit on heights’ best offensive player. All that momentum came to a stop after the hit.

I have now seen all of the top 5-6 WCAC and every IAC team play. My conclusion is not that PVI isn’t as good as we think, but that both PVI and Heights are top caliber teams (PVI being 1-2 goals better).

To clarify, it took the heights kid out for the rest of the game.

March 20th DC Rankings (IAC, WCAC, MAC, Nova Publics)

1. SJC (5-0): The Cadets cruised through traditional MIAA heavy-weights, BL, and Calvert Hall earlier in the season. Big contest vs Hill Academy later this week. The Cadets will be favored

2. Gonzaga (4-0): New Coach has proven the Gonzaga naysayers wrong with early-season wins over Loyola Blakefield, McDonogh, and Landon. Huge Contest this week vs PVI on the road.

3. Georgetown Prep (2-3): After a rough start, the Lil Hoyas have found their mojo and have strung together 3 impressive victories against three great programs (Loyola, Gilman, and now Malvern Prep). GP faces an upcoming Ohio power, Western Reserve Academy later this week.

4. Paul VI (4-0): The Panthers took it to traditional IAC power this past week, Saint Stephens but had a mini scare on Friday against the Heights. Expect a close battle on Thursday vs the Purple Eagles.

5. Bullis (2-3): Despite losses this past week to Spalding (MIAA) and Philly power Haverford, Bullis made both games competitive. Things don't get any easier for the Bulldogs with Culver Academy looming later this week. Bullis is very young this season, they will be a different team in May under Bellistri.

6. Saint Stephens (4-1): Saints bounced back from a tough loss to PVI earlier in the week with an impressive victory yesterday against traditional Philly power, Episcopal Academy. The Saints head down to the "Lone Star" state for Spring break later this week and will play traditional Texas powers, Dallas Jesuit and Highland Park. Kudos to the Saints for heading down to Texas to help continue to grow the game.

7. Landon (2-3): The Bears bounced back from their Gonzaga loss with a good win yesterday against Penn Charter (Inter-Ac). The Bears are young this season and will be a different team come May. Landon hits the road this week down to Charlottesville where they play Saint Annes Belfield. (STAB) and Norfolk Academy.

8. St Albans (4-2): Despite their record, the Bulldogs haven't really been tested this Spring. STA did not have their best performance yesterday against Chestnut Academy (Inter-Ac). STA hits the road this week for a Spring break trip to North Carolina but first, they have an early week contest vs Saint Annes Belfield.

9. DeMatha (2-3): The Stags had some tough losses to start the season to STA, Bullis, and SJC. DeMatha picked up two victories this past week against two programs from North Carolina I am not too familiar with. The Stags are a young squad this year and should be better come to late Springtime.

10. Riverside: The Loudoun county public school power and defending VA State Champion (Class 5A) will be tested this week when they face Severn from the MIAA.

great analysis, thank you!

minor correction, GP's record is 3-2, not 2-3

I would maybe swap Bullis with Saint Stephen's ranking but otherwise, these rankings look on point.

That is an interesting version of the story. How about the score was 8-1 at halftime and PVI decided to play back ups. Heights is not going to be within one goal of the other top WCAC teams.

Troll? No coach would put in nor keep backups in when you are in that close of a game in 3rd/4th. Especially not in a WCAC matchup, but maybe your sons public school does differently?

And better yet, I was at the game (parent of neither team)... PVI kept their starters in the whole game.
