March 20th DC Rankings (IAC, WCAC, MAC, Nova Publics) 1. SJC (5-0): The Cadets cruised through traditional MIAA heavy-weights, BL, and Calvert Hall earlier in the season. Big contest vs Hill Academy later this week. The Cadets will be favored 2. Gonzaga (4-0): New Coach has proven the Gonzaga naysayers wrong with early-season wins over Loyola Blakefield, McDonogh, and Landon. Huge Contest this week vs PVI on the road. 3. Georgetown Prep (2-3): After a rough start, the Lil Hoyas have found their mojo and have strung together 3 impressive victories against three great programs (Loyola, Gilman, and now Malvern Prep). GP faces an upcoming Ohio power, Western Reserve Academy later this week. 4. Paul VI (4-0): The Panthers took it to traditional IAC power this past week, Saint Stephens but had a mini scare on Friday against the Heights. Expect a close battle on Thursday vs the Purple Eagles. 5. Bullis (2-3): Despite losses this past week to Spalding (MIAA) and Philly power Haverford, Bullis made both games competitive. Things don't get any easier for the Bulldogs with Culver Academy looming later this week. Bullis is very young this season, they will be a different team in May under Bellistri. 6. Saint Stephens (4-1): Saints bounced back from a tough loss to PVI earlier in the week with an impressive victory yesterday against traditional Philly power, Episcopal Academy. The Saints head down to the "Lone Star" state for Spring break later this week and will play traditional Texas powers, Dallas Jesuit and Highland Park. Kudos to the Saints for heading down to Texas to help continue to grow the game. 7. Landon (2-3): The Bears bounced back from their Gonzaga loss with a good win yesterday against Penn Charter (Inter-Ac). The Bears are young this season and will be a different team come May. Landon hits the road this week down to Charlottesville where they play Saint Annes Belfield. (STAB) and Norfolk Academy. 8. St Albans (4-2): Despite their record, the Bulldogs haven't really been tested this Spring. STA did not have their best performance yesterday against Chestnut Academy (Inter-Ac). STA hits the road this week for a Spring break trip to North Carolina but first, they have an early week contest vs Saint Annes Belfield. 9. DeMatha (2-3): The Stags had some tough losses to start the season to STA, Bullis, and SJC. DeMatha picked up two victories this past week against two programs from North Carolina I am not too familiar with. The Stags are a young squad this year and should be better come to late Springtime. 10. Riverside: The Loudoun county public school power and defending VA State Champion (Class 5A) will be tested this week when they face Severn from the MIAA.
