With a full month of games having been played, we are starting to see which teams are bullish and whose bearish.

1. SJC (9-0): this really could be a special team. Expect them to cruise past the Heights today and Episcopal Academy from Philly later this week. St. Anthony's looms in the background

2. Prep (6-3): Lil Hoyas dominated their Jesuit rivals last night. Prep seems to have found its offensive mojo after a slow start. Their losses came against #1 SJC, #3 Brunswick, and #10 Saint Marys. The Hoyas clash with their archnemesis Landon on Friday

3. PVI (7-2): PVI picked up their first-ever program victory over Landon this past weekend. A tough non-league matchup against Malvern Prep this afternoon from the Inter-Act.

4. St Stephens (10-1): The Saints have been cruising ever since taking a slacking from PVI a few weeks ago. The Saints dominated the competition during their Texas spring break trip and have doubled up on VISAA opponents. Saints travel to crosstown rival Episcopal to open up IAC league play.

5. Gonzaga (8-2): The Purple Eagles lost their #1 offensive threat to a potential season-ending injury and simply are not the same caliber of team. They look lost on both sides of the ballin their past two contests. An interesting battle with IAC rival Bullis looms and then a road trip down to Texas where the Eagles will square off against some tough competition in Dallas Jesuit and the Episcopal School Dallas.

6. Bullis (4-4): The Bulldogs dropped a tough one over the weekend to Malvern Prep. The bulldogs seem to be struggling offensively which is not a surprise given the firepower they graduated last Spring. St Albans on Thursday and the Purple Eagles on Saturday should be a good barometer this week.

7. Landon (5-4): The Bears went 1-1 last week, picking up a win against DeMatha but dropping a 6-4 contest to PVI. Landon's defense appears to be much improved but its offensive production is lacking. Bears and the Lil Hoyas face off on Friday.

8. St Albans (8-3): Based on their record, one might think the Bulldogs are legit this year. While their strength of schedule has been questionable, the Bulldogs seem to be improved this season and are playing with confidence. Will this be the year they finally get out of the basement of the IAC and knock off either Bullis or Landon? STA vs Bullis on Thursday will tell us if these guys are contenders or pretenders.

9. The Heights (6-3): I like what Boh Mitchell is doing with this program. His players play hard for him and keeping it very close with both Gonzaga and PVI tells you everything you need to know about the direction in which this program is headed.

10. DeMatha (4-4): DeMatha is young and athletic. Looks for these guys to improve under Dave Mitchell. A tough non-league matchup against traditional Philadelphia Catholic power La Salle takes place this afternoon.

Move Albans up to 5, PVI to 2, Heights @8 above Landon and Bullis above GZ.

The Maryland rule is under the Standards of Competition section, that private schools in Maryland sign in order to be able to play public schools in all sports.

High school team members may participate in interscholastic athletic contests in a maximum of four
seasons in one sport within the 9th through 12th grades.[I]

As of now the player is able to play, but Maryland may put forth a clause that the 2020 season counts as a season for all students to avoid an extra year. Then the player would be ineligible.

Regarding the 2020 COVID season which was canceled after 3 weeks of play. I don't think Episcopal had played a regular-season game that Spring but they were practicing and had pre-season scrimmages before all schools basically shut down in mid-March.

For all the years GP has called out Bullis for recruiting, I'm sure Bullis is going to jump at the bit to make sure the rules are adhered to.

Can't move Albans anywhere until they can actually beat someone in the IAC other than Episcopal who is their only league victory in the past 3 seasons.

GP is back on the rise after shaking off some pre-season rust.

The latest IL power rankings have the Hoyas at #9.

You need to get your facts straight. I know first hand they allowed players to transfer in this year and they reclassed and got lost year back. Current players at same school didn’t get the luxury of the additional year.

I hope they don't as he's fun to watch, and given all the talent Prep has, its unlikely that even knocking one player out will be enough to change the outcome of next year's Prep-Bullis matchup.
