CNN is reporting that the mayalsian govt has given India specific coordinates for a search and India is still deploying assets. Anyone know more on this? |

I'm confused on this point as well! Someone with some info or a cite from a news source that actually knows what it's talking about, please weigh in. |
On the PPRune site, pilots were saying that people are reading way too much into the reprogrammed data. That it is not very meaningful. They said that there are always two routes programmed and that pilots can change those programs anytime. Route 1 is the flight plan from their departure location to their destination - if they want to change Route 1 (weather, or for whatever reason) they are supposed to contact ATC and negotiate that. As for Route 2, this is generally the back up route or diversion route. Although it can also just be a secondary route to the destination. Usually though it is the diversion route. Some airlines have a Route 2 pre-programmed in, other times the pilots choose a pre-programmed Route 2, and other pilots like to program their own Route 2 just before take off or once in the air. One pilot who flies that route says he routinely programs his Route 2 for Penang airport once in the air. He said many pilots have preferences of where they would want to diver to, and in an emergencies options are also displayed. He didn't think anything of the MH370 inputting a Route 2 to another airport or to a waypoint. Once Route 2 is programmed in, it only takes two pushes a button to change to that Route. The only thing the pilot said that was unexpected was that whoever changed the Route info reprogrammed the flight to Langkawi airport rather than Penang. he said there is a hill flying into Langkawi form that direction so you have to fly around and turn and land from the other side, whereas Penang is just a direct approach. If you are going to divert, you want the direct approach. That is what I understood anyways! |
I don't think that's what I said, nor what I meant. I said (earlier post) IF the US government, and/or other governments do have specific information about its location, they might not want to reveal it for security reasons. If that was the case they may continue to ocean search. All I feel fairly confident in is that the plane's change was deliberate. I'm not buying any of the rapid depressurization / autopilot for 7 hours / explosion theories. I think too much goes against that. I have no opinion on whether the plane is actually still intact. I'm leaning towards believing it crashed in the ocean, and at this point hope so, for if not it is in bad hands. Again- my opinion, I am not asserting any of this as fact. I know someone will jump on this with "well you don't know..." of course I don't. |
Breaking News: Malaysian officials state they can not confirm or deny that MH370 is an airplane.
Just saw that on reddit and it made me laugh |
What's all this about a missing plane? |

Thorough article for those who believe a fire took the plane down. |
CNN just broke with Breaking News that the Australian PM announced that objects that appear to be related to the plane have been seen on satellite imagery. And now they are sending out ships/planes to find this debris. |
Go, Aussie, go ... (so proud of my country) ... oh, I hope it turns out to be something related or this could be embarrassing! |
The Chinese made a similar claim in the beginning (thought it was a plane door), but turned out not to be so. Hoping this time, it's the real thing. |
BREAKING NEWS:
Objects found in Indian Ocean could possibly be related to search for Flight 370, Australian PM says, according to Australian media. |
