How so? Poster seems to have a good point. If I as a coach have private training sessions that include players who eventually try out for my DA team, I would more than likely select those players I have a relationship with. Makes sense to me.

I bet you attend those HP sessions, don't you?

Extra! Extra! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!!

Kids that attend extra training improves and make DA team!!

I'm the poster above that asked about the ID sessions and not taking notes. I asked someone else about evaluations and making the VDA DA team and they told us to attend the HP elite training...

For Arlington DA I'm told Oscar puts all people he knows on teams even if they are not that good.

the whole ID process is broken.

What do you mean by "all people he knows"? Are you just sarcastic or do you mean that he only takes players already playing for Arlington?
For all these "not that good players", his teams seem to do ok in the DA...

You don’t have to attend HP Elite to receive additional training LMAO that is laughable

So after demonstrating that “HP Alums” make DAs all over you move the goal posts to Oscar?

NP here. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I think there's something to this. My son is a strong DA player and has never done any HP training. He's been passed over by Quan on a couple of occasions. Could be a style of play issue, I guess.

It might also reflect who they already have for your son's position.

All of this reminded me to register my sons for HP Elite Camps this summer. Registration is open. : )

I do know some kids that been to same HP camp/clinic with my son and currently are top players on their DA teams. (VDA, DCU, Loudoun and Arlington).

I personally don't believe any player can get into DA simply because they trained at HP.

Obvious conflict of interest with him. He should never be allowed to run a for profit biz in the same geographic area as his DA team. Quan completely undermines the DA program for selfish reasons.

This post is absolute bullshit.

I agree there's an inherent conflict, but Quan's not the only one who does this. Also FWIW, we never funded Quan's pocket book either, but my kid still made the team. That doesn't mean he was better. Sometimes that's just the way it goes. Talent ID is a very subjective process. Mistakes are inevitable, but there isn't always some nefarious reason for that. At the higher levels the margins separating players can be very, very small, and opinions will naturally differ. So you may very well be right. It's possible your kid should have made the team and it was a mistake to leave him off. I hope he's landed in a good environment elsewhere and he's been working twice as hard to prove VDA was wrong about him. Many a star player has an experience or two like that in their past ...

I know that their email to players who went through the winter ID sessions said offers will come in "mid to late April" but I wonder if they plan to send offers out before, between or after the April 11 and April 22 ID sessions. I'd love to wrap up our plans for next year as early as possible.

I'm wondering the same thing. We got the original email but no invitation to these new sessions, so I'm guessing we don't need to go, but haven't heard about the offer timing.

I hate to say this. But based on my experience, you might not get offer if they didn't contact you for a significant of time after tryout. You might want to look for other option and simply check with them.

Yes! If a club wants you, they will make the offer immediately. A club is also interested in wrapping up their teams asap, but for the players they are on the fence on, they will wait and see.

Arlington Boys DA is sure taking it's time giving offers. They started ID sessions months ago.

And they have come back to parents about 4 weeks ago...

Do you mean they started giving offers 4 weeks ago?

They informed parents whose kids were definitely not considered.
I am not sure whether the others had firm offers or are still been looked at... My understanding was that they did the ID sessions quite early so as to have plenty of time to assess potential recruits.

My son went to three of the Arlington DA tryouts in March, the first by signing up for it, the other two by invitation from the coaches. After tryouts were over, we received a letter saying that in April there would be invite only sessions and that we should enjoy spring break and that we would be hearing back from them shortly. I took this to mean that my son was still being evaluated. He had not been cut, but was in the pool of players that they were planning to contact in April. Does anyone have any info on what's happening with the Arlington DA process? It's April 12. Since that letter in March saying we'd be contacted, we have not heard anything further from them.

100% agree......we are not Quan fans........BUT that is because we dont like his style......not because he isn't a good coach. I know plenty of kids who dont do HP Elite and it has not effected them a bit when he evaluated them.

The point of the DA list on the HP site was not to say you need HP to make DA, it was to show there is great diversity of players who train there and play for other DAs. That HP is not just VDA or PWSI kids.

Did the Washington Spirit DA make it's offers yet? How about Arlington? I have heard that FCV already made all of their offers.
