Second round options for Woodward boundary study

Oh people can complain about anything. The advocacy focused on opening Woodward to alleviate crowding at WJ and the DCC and to make WJ and Woodward equivalent in terms of offerings. The different programmatic focus of the two schools in the regional model is a departure from that original ask which may be why people are concerned. There is no reason to think there won't be advanced classes at Woodward though. MCPS is saying all schools will
have Calc BC, Stats, AP Bio, Chem, Phys, Lang, Lit, Gov, USH, World, Human Geo etc. That is advanced. Plus there will be Middle College.

Most of those classes except ap bio and chem the schools already have so that’s a joke. No, it’s not advanced.

"extremely smart"? but they and their parents have terrible judgment to enable mere hobbies as part of their high school education and college and life preparedness. lots of kids want to play soccer. they should have a soccer magnet too. give me a break. do art after school for fun

WJ and Woodward Art school will be two completely different schools.

WJ will maintain APEX Reach and have humanities stuff.

Woodward will be for painting and theater geeks. Maybe they can move WJ Stage to Woodward...that's probably one of the biggest waste of resources at current WJ.

Also, the clearly want to bus higher performing acdemic kids to Wheaton and Kennedy. Math/Engineering and IB stuff are on that side of the tracks.

I don't like some of the neighborhoods Woodward is pulling from. Hate to say it, but will anyway. I also don't like arts magnet. Also don't like the loss of advanced stuff. Not to mention, as others have above, the "Start up factor" will be very bumpy and that is when my kid will have to go.
