Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

Looks like after maybe a "down" year with the 22s (not a large commitment class) the 23s are doing quite well.

Yes the 2023 team has done well and more from public school than private school.

I'm also curious how 2025 team is ranked and if they will hold tryouts this summer?

Ranked??? This class is last summer of HS lacrosse rankings don’t matter anymore. Kids play to showcase if not comitted and many teams miss players at each event. This is the showcase summer rankings do not mean a thing.

Who told you rankings don’t mean anything in HS? Only the top ranked teams can attend the best showcase tournaments. There is a difference between team showcases and individual showcases. It’s highly unlikely you’ll be invited to the best individual showcases if you’re not playing on a high ranked club team.

Who told you rankings don’t mean anything in HS? Only the top ranked teams can attend the best showcase tournaments. There is a difference between team showcases and individual showcases. It’s highly unlikely you’ll be invited to the best individual showcases if you’re not playing on a high ranked club team.

For 2023 rankings are meaningless. Teams are playing back up players to get recruited. The top teams are already invited to the best events based on prior years.

They are holding tryouts, which means the answer is yes, they might consider new players. There is one wacko whose son had a bad experience on that team a year or two ago, so you can expect him to chime in and dump all over the team.
But if your son is interested, he should go to the tryouts and decide for himself what he thinks.
They hired a new head coach a year ago who has an excellent reputation, plus I know first hand that he is a great coach.

Anyone know if they are going back to the one team per grade level? Or are they going to stay with the two teams per grade after the Cavs merger?

I think it depends on the numbers they get and the coaches that are available. There are now more clubs than kids who want to play travel so the clubs are not able to make assumptions before tryouts at all ages.

Let's put it this way, in 2022 they won 6 games and lost 15 games, including being 0 and 5 at the NLF national championship and 1 and 4 at Big 4 Champions, so they are a weak team and they could obviously use some better players. Particularly attack because they've always had a problem scoring points. They've had a three coaches in three years and it wouldn't surprise me if they got a new coach after the 2022 season of fail.
