Yes, you clearly want to allow people to have their own opinions!
|
No. I want mine. I expressed it and you decided it was “wrong.” Have whatever opinion you want, you’re not entitled to mine too. |
Agree. I do like some of her songs. But now I am realizing she worked with producers who made her sound good. So, did I like the producer's work or Swift's work? I don't know anymore... "Fate of Ophelia," for example, has bad lyrics but a good melody. The melody likely came from Max Martin, who has developed music for Spears, Grande, and more. He is a pop expert or pro or whatever you want to call him. He has been nailing pop music for ages. |
She wrote a song about feeling insecure and TS misinterpreted it as a dig... |
Well all the great musicians are helped by collaborators, producers, etc. - no one goes it alone. You kind of have to earn your right to work with Max Martin and Shellback at this stage of the game. I give credit to Taylor for making it to the point where she can just call them up have them help her produce an album. But I agree with you that they are hit makers. As soon as I heard that she was working with them again I was excited, especially because I’m such a fan of Rep and 1989. They do great work. I like the things she’s done with Antonoff and Dessner, but it was time to go in a new direction. |
Amen. The “brainwashed” poster is so immature. |
Yes! It’s a bop, I like that one and also Elizabeth Taylor. I can listen to them on repeat. Wood is so bad. I feel like I’m sitting through a junior high talent show and the dorky girl in class is performing a song she wrote about her online fake boyfriend. Ugh. |
Except that is exactly what I said. “If you believe that- okay?” Were my words. As in okay you can believe that. I’m not sure why telling someone to shut up about it is better and “allowing opinions” except you agree with the shut up poster. |
Not the whole albums. I just know her most popular songs that I hear in all the other ways we’re exposed to music. I listened to Folkore today. I like it fine, but it sounds like a different person. It has a moody 70s sound. I prefer the happy badass version of Taylor. I don’t care for songs about anxiety, depression, rejection, and loss. It could be my age. Maybe young people relate more to her relationship angst. I like this strong version of her where she’s in a healthy relationship and putting creepy Nashville/LA music managers in their place. I like her being unbothered by mean girl behavior and secure in her relationship and friendships. |
You left out the part where you declared just because someone said they liked it doesn’t mean it’s good. So in other words, “your opinion is wrong.” But okay? |
Oh gotcha. You are right I should have been more clear and said to the average person/ radio listener who isn’t into Taylor and won’t have it on repeat to let it have the exposure effect happen to them. They will still say bad because they aren’t going into deep dive in it. Either way saying someone is wrong isn’t censorship like telling someone to shut up. |
DP. You sound exactly like a high school friend of mine who insulted everyone’s taste in music, art, food, and clothes. She still acted like that in her 40s. I was the last friend to finally reach my limit and the friendship ended like all her others. Life tip from someone who is probably twice your age: insulting others doesn’t make you superior, it makes you repellant. |
. Wow. Take a chill pill there lady. I didn’t insult anyone. Calling an album bad isn’t an insult. Saying someone is repellent and should shut up IS.
|
Censorship???? Omg you’re special alright!!! No point in having a discussion with someone who lacks anything resembling intelligence. Got it. Carry on with your opinions about an artist you don’t like, discussing an album you don’t like, with people you don’t like. Seems like a great use of time. |
You aren’t discussing, you are insulting. There is a distinct difference. If you want to discuss why someone who only listens and enjoys Taylor’s radio songs would listen to the album over and over again in order to let it “grow on them” and like it, please do. That is what her casual and big fans on here said they did to like the album. Why would people do that unless they are already invested? And if you listen one time and don’t like it, of course you are going to say it is bad. It was, you didn’t like it. Why go back if you aren’t a fan already? PS- I don’t know you, this is the internet. We can disagree without me disliking you. That is how the world works. |
