Taylor's Swift's new album - let's GOOOOO

I’m a casual swifty and am so surprised to see people defending this album so strenuously. Like any album she drops will be successful because she’s Taylor swift that doesn’t mean it is any good. Every song is like a worse version of something else she’s already done.

Except few posters are doing that. People are saying the album is not doing well, it’s failing, it was a flop. I think the album was fine, not her best, but objectively not a flop. It is doing well. I don’t care if people like the album or not but it’s weird when people try to just paint a different reality.

Funny that you are surprised to see people defending her, but you aren’t surprised at a bunch of random people who don’t like her or listen to her keep trying to convince everyone that the album is failing. It’s just weird.

You batshit crazies treat critics of her music as attacks on you personally. THAT is weird.

It’s honestly insane. You can’t even say you are a fan of hers in general but you don’t like this particular album without them implying that you’re a secret Taylor hater.

I’m a Swiftie and seriously hated this album when it first came out. I still prefer her previous 4 albums by a lot but when I went to tell someone the few songs I liked I realized I kept listing them until I had covered 8 or 9. So it completely grew on me.

People, it’s art. It’s subjective. Relax.

Exposure effect. If you want or like to be brainwashed into enjoying something and make sure you listen to it enough to you start to like it. Okay? But that doesn’t mean the album is good.

Good lord. Shut up already. Maybe let people decide for themselves if they like something or not.

Oh stop. You are probably the megan the stallion freak who has been droning for days.

I'm also a casual Swifty and haven't seen anyone "defending this album so strenuously". Most of the normies on this thread have readily acknowledged there are several good songs on the album (one in particular!) but that it's definitely not her best and some of the songs are even awful. I have a rotation of about eight from this new album that I really like, but my favorite TS songs are from her last four albums prior to this one.

Huh? Who has said that or even implied it? The people being *correctly* referred to as haters are the trolls who can't stop making up conspiracy theories about her and who keep dragging in their stupid gossip and rumors to this thread, insisting that the album is failing, etc. I mean, any objective observer knows that's a flat-out lie, so why even bother?

I don't like all of her songs, but I definitely consider myself a casual fan. Not at all interested in all the middle school gossip and nasty rumormongering that her actual haters thrive on.

Ha, I just wrote something very similar. It grew on me, too - and my favorites are her last four albums too! Frankly, I can't stand Wood, Actually Romantic, Father Figure, Cancelled, or Elizabeth Taylor, but I really like the rest of her new songs.

DP. You're tiresome. Why are you even so invested if you hate her and this album? Go brainwash yourself into thinking whatever music you like is actually good.

I like every song. Never listened to a whole album of hers before and can’t tell you much about her life or music.

Music theorists and Shakespeare professors judge it positively too.

Have you listened to any of her past four albums? I'd be curious what you think about them. Particularly Folklore.
