Yes this was such a great zinger!

What got zinged? How is a made up story posted by a twitter troll look bad for Vance?

+1
It really is quite remarkable that Democrats think this is so hilarious. A fake story, made up by a troll... oh wait, it actually does make sense when looked at that way.

Not true. Prime example: Kelly

So naive. If Kelly was the VP choice, they’d call this the most socialist ticket ever. They do it every four years!

THIS ^^

I disagree. He’s running a state.

Even if he’s not, he’s better than these financier class vampires who exist to suck wealth out of regular people. And who also, by the way, couldn’t be trusted to run a camping goods store.

He let hundreds of businesses burn to the ground. He’s not welcome in my store.

It’s just highlights what a moron he is, story or not.

Um... how?

Wow. The GOP is really upset about this pick. Loving it!

Today I learned that Minnesota is a burned out socialist hell hole. These QAnon freaks are spitting Truth!

Please learn the difference between socialism and democratic socialists. You’re embarrassing yourself.

Walz admits he’s a socialist and had socialist values. We are not a socialist country.

Uh no. He challenges anyone to suggest that school breakfasts and lunches are 'socialism" as a bad thing.

I agree that children shouldn’t be punished for their parents’ bad choices, I just wish there was more personal responsibility from the parents.

???

Are you suggesting that poverty is a matter of "bad choices"?

yes- she is

https://fortune.com/2024/08/06/tim-walz-sleeps-just-fine-with-fs-from-the-nra-gun-lobby-control/

It might seem a little out of the norm or against the commonly held stereotype for a known former veteran and hunter to be pro-gun-control. But Walz explained in last year’s annual State of the State that it’s this exact experience that informs his desire to pass legislation that involves greater arms regulation.

“I know guns as well as anyone else in this room,” Walz said at the Minnesota Capitol building in 2023, adding that he is “one of the best shots in Congress” and has the trophy to prove it.

“I got an A rating from the NRA my first term in Congress. Now I get straight F’s. And I sleep just fine,” Walz said in his 2023 address, adding that everyone knows gun violence is an issue but are “just used to being bullied by the gun lobby.”

80% of Americans want gun reform. Parents do not like having their kids doing lockdown drills.

Citation?

“The McCourtney Institute for Democracy’s latest Mood of the Nation Poll, conducted from May 12-18, 2023, finds that 86 percent of American adults support U.S. Congress mandating background checks for all firearm sales and transfers.

Nearly three-quarters support Congress requiring gun owners to take a test, obtain a license and register their firearms, similar to the process of owning an automobile.”

They don’t have their methodology documented, we don’t know who they asked or how they asked. They should have that information included.

Full blown. It's all trans in bathrooms and George Floyd/riots! That's all they got. Wait until they start hearing him speak! This is going to be delicious.

The riots and overall breakdown of law and order in our cities is where the Democrats are most vulnerable. Expect to hear about Kamala’s San Francisco and Tim’s Minneapolis nonstop for the next three months.

Did January 6th not happen? I don't understand how GOP are so concerned about some riots and not others. It's weird.

Bingo

All riots should be equally disdained regardless of the issue behind it because more often than not it's some nut job extremist thugs who don't actually care about the issue behind it....but as such should also be equally prosecuted and equally thought of as wrong regardless of the issue. It's never ok to destroy property regardless of the issue or topic period.

I agree. I read an article about The riots in MN and poor reaction time. Walz was very honest about it all and how it was not handled well. Now contrast that with Trump who still thinks January 6th was a good thing.

True - but I also know many Dems who think the BLM riots were a good thing too.

Dems supported the peaceful protests and criticized where the looting and property damage took place.

Well I'll rephrase,"I have personally spoken to more than one Dem who feels the looting and property damage was justified". But we are going off-topic now. Back to Tim Walz....honestly...I don't care how he reacted to the BLM riots because it was an extremely difficult time. I also don't care about anything he did or didn't do 20 yrs ago. I do care about his political views and social ideology which are too progressive for my taste. Not saying it's going to make me vote for Trump but I am now strongly considering staying home...and this is coming from someone who was pushing their DD to go out and vote because of the importance of voting - DD doesn't care to vote this year either. I can see her point of view.

What ideology do you find too progressive?

[…]
Education: In favor of reduced/free college education for the trades -- in fact...take some of the illegal immigrants who have been here for over 10-15+ yrs (because realistically you can't deport them all) and educate them in the trades. Fix our education system and stop focusing on stupid issues that don't belong in schools. Teach tolerance and respect as a two-way street. Note: I actually like how Walz has approached education in MN -- except for teaching gender ideology in schools. Many parents voice their concerns: https://cbsaustin.com/news/nation-world/minnesota-parents-clash-over-teachers-discussing-gender-identity-with-students-stay-in-your-lane-osseo-area-schools-isd-279-lgbtqia-history-and-culture-resolution-lgbt-transgender and […]

You cite a ton of right wing talking points and misrepresentations (no one takes you seriously when your argument is a strawman), but I think you should have read the article you posted before spouting off about “teaching gender ideology” and from a “news” outlet in Austin, TX owned by Sinclair. But even they were able to sneak in the fact that it’s not teaching gender ideology but respecting all students, including the ones who were being bullied for being gay. So you want gay kids to get bullied? That’s essentially what you said.

And to try to pull some grapes out of your cornucopia of misled: that was an Osseo, MN policy, not a state wide one. Good lord. You are bad at this, “independent.”

This was just one point in response to someone who asked "What ideology do you find too progressive?" And I stand by my post - this is one area that I find too progressive/liberal. But I am also pro-LGBTQ rights -- it's something the progressive/liberal left can't seem to comprehend which is so frustrating -- you can support LGBTQ rights but also disagree with certain specific issues. The all-or-nothing attitude of the left is tiresome. Just as tiresome as the all-or-nothing attitude of the right when it comes to abortion. Same thing.

DP. Well said. This is how I feel, too. So sick of the extremes.

The forgotten middle.
The middle children of the country if you will.

Well said indeed.

Well, Harris acknowledges you with this pick.

No she didn't.
I'm still likely to vote for her given I can't tolerate Trump.
But I will also likely to vote more right leaning down ballot to keep things somewhat balanced.

The Democrats have bent over backwards to be right leaning (Biden, Clinton, Kaine, Lieberman, Gore, Obama, Kerry… these are not far left people); the same is never asked of the GOP. Not ever. Voters like you never ask that the GOP move left. You should ask yourself why you don’t think they should moderate.

I have in my lifetime voted for both Democrats and Republicans.
I vote for who at the time I feel is best for the country overall, best represents the views of the country and best reflects my personal views.

I think both parties are invested in playing to the extremes and not really listening to what people actually want.

+100
Absolutely agree. I would happily vote for a Bill Clinton today.
DP

Walz is basically Bill Clinton.

Good try. Walz is left of Bernie.

his congressional voting record is literally spot in the middle. That is hardly "left of Bernie"

When one makes such wildly unfounded claims, it really degrades the whole argument.

Which is why it’s not worth arguing with these weirdos. They go to conspiracy sites and are unreachable.

This. Feeling politically homeless right now. I can’t bring myself to vote for either extreme so will probably sit this one out.

I don't believe you are what you say you are. But, even if you view this as a "lesser evil" situation (it's not, Harris/Walz is a good option); but even if you viewed it as a "lesser evil" situation, the moral thing to do is to vote in a way that helps protect your friends and neighbors from the greater evil.

I will only vote for RFK, Jr. if he makes it. If not, I will write in his name.

Ew.

Just want to point out, I'm the PP in bold who said I feel politically homeless right now. I am absolutely NOT the person who said they were voting for RFK Jr. Absolutely gross.

Yes, where did you learn social studies? Because you have a poor grasp of what communism is.

Communism is what is much closer to the political system in Russia, which Trump's pal, Putin runs.

Corrected. "leave" should be "learn"
