MCPS covid cases

Heard about one at our school which also isn't listed.

Does school know students’ covid vaccination status? If not, in the event of a close contact how does the school know who to send home for quarantine?

We sent both kids with their records last week. Hopefully, the HR teachers passed them on to the nurses.

They don't. When my high school kid was exposed via sports, they sent a survey asking about each kid's vaccination status. Not sure why they didn't do that survey BEFORE practice started and then ask unvaccinated kids to wear masks and/or give them info on how to get vaccinated.

Which means it's really six to ten times that so expect next week to be rough

Schools will have to close at this rate.

They wouldn’t have to if they’d just pull their head out of their butt. I know they find it comfortable there, though. FCPS managed its second week just fine. In fact, Fairfax cases are down week over week, and positivity is down as well. MoCo loves the drama.

That is the number of kids in quarantine, not Covid cases. The number of postive cases is under 25 at this time.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, re: FCPS. They hide their numbers too.

Are you implying that the county is hiding numbers? The rate is decreasing at the county level. If there were more cases in schools, those numbers would be included in the county numbers regardless of what FCPS is reporting.

I don't know how accurate that number is, but it wouldn't surprise me based on Frederick Co. 450 out of 160,000 is not bad. But I think it is fair to expect it to increase. Covid tests seem harder to get now as well so it could delay some students being able to return.

I keep hearing covid tests are harder to get in other states where covid is surging as well. Usually states that are "beyond the surge."

This concerns me. A lot.

I don't know. Could there be a backlog? Parents are saying FCPS isn't reporting all cases.

It's 1000, actually, according to WTOP who asked an MCPS official.

"As of Friday night, the Montgomery County schools COVID-19 cases dashboard included more than 40 letters from officials at schools across the district reporting on cases of individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus."

From the WTOP link posted above.

And as posters on DCUM have said repeatedly, MANY cases are not being reported by MCPS.
