MCPS covid cases

Most of the country is doing the same...do you test every few days just to check?

For what it's worth, I'm planning to get my (vaccinated) high-school kid tested every week, as an additional measure to reduce the risk of our visits to my (vaccinated) parents.

God forbid if your kid is positive but asymptomatic. Would you tell MCPS?

Whoever administered the test would be required to report the positive to the County, who will then initiate contact tracing.

i guess parents could still refuse to cooperate with contact tracing. But if they do refuse, then hey, no quarantines! (/s)

Right. Why would any parent go along with this? Don't tell MCPS, and don't work with the contact tracers. At least, not until MCPS changes their quarantine policies and demonstrates a commitment to them.

Are you ordering zip ties on Amazon, PP?

DP. Of course I would. You people are awful.

I thought positives are reported automatically to the health department, which notifies schools. That's how it is in DC.

Absolutely. I don't want my kid to further spread it to his classmate and their families who may not be vaccinated or protected.

There are rumors that about 450 are in quarantine or isolation at the moment. I don't know how accurate that number is, but it wouldn't surprise me based on Frederick Co. 450 out of 160,000 is not bad. But I think it is fair to expect it to increase. Covid tests seem harder to get now as well so it could delay some students being able to return.

I would think we'd all agree that MCPS should be publicly reporting the total number of quarantined students, along with the number of positive tests and the number of incidents of symptoms.

Are you sure they aren't? Normally people here just like to complain without any regard for reality.

Maybe you're just a little slow. Show me where on the mcps covid web page it lists or mentions class quarantines. There have been many even last year but no mention. So since you think you know something, send us a link.

MCPS is not publishing every quarantine. The ones from my school have never been posted this year.

Our covid notification hasn't been published either. Wonder if they're trying to push the notification out on Saturday when no one is watching

Or maybe somebody left early for the holiday weekend

It's pretty clear many DCUM parents would not.
