* our public officials. He is not elected, he is appointed. |
| Is it possible they are distance learning at the private school? Still though lack of faith in public school looks bad for his position. Didn’t her last pick get in trouble for switching their kid to Wilson? Why does she pick these people knowing these things? |
Because nothing happens unless public pressure builds. |
Most private schools have been 100 percent open since September. |
Not true at all. That’s only true for some parochials. The rest opened in hybrid—my upper elementary kid didn’t get any in-person until mid-Nov. Just check out the parents who’ve been complaining about not getting more in person in the private forum. |
| A complete disgrace. |
The vast majority of privates have been open five days since the beginning of the school year. |
Again, incorrect. Most opened in some sort of hybrid, with more in-person time for the youngest students. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/921759.page |
| Allowing DCPS to stay closed while your own kids enjoy in person learning at a top private is unconscionable. I sent him an email with my concerns. I am open to any additional suggestions of next steps. Recall? |
100 percent in support of a recall |
Well, the school in question, WIS, has been open since the beginning of the year |
Even assuming that is true, that is very different than the "vast majority of privates have been open." |
Private schools with virtual learning have been the exception |
Also they have a business model that forces this question. They don't offer some form of IPL they don't get paid. Most did IPL until checks cleared (or promises of IPL). They also have smaller class sizes and bigger footprints. If privates could always act like public school why would these smart, rich parents send their kids to privates and not the public. |
No it hasn’t. DC and MoCo privates didn’t open in-person until Oct., and even then it was hybrid with younger grades prioritized. See post here about WIS reopening in Oct: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/932419.page#18739257 |
