Milley was the class moron at Princeton. He was viewed by classmates as a dumb weirdo, and he has absolutely carried the water for Trump since his appointment - his absolute fealty to a dictator is exactly why he was selected.

Point is, people like you can't even get in, so you have no real reason to stereotype military officers as morons and even less cause to feed your own fears with rumors and innuendo.

Wrong. Former commissioned officer, but had no interest in being on welfare for a living.

Sorry the military life wasn't for you. Glad you got out. You are not an objective observer.

He may be many things, but "dumb" and "moron" don't apply. He's a graduate of Princeton and Columbia.

Milley also is not a Trump loyalist. He is disliked by the inner circle: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/11/10/crisis-top-pentagon-is-just-beginning/

There are record number of educated minority females joining the military. Are they Neanderthals too? Like my sister, who grew up in a DC suburb, graduated from VA Tech before deciding to go to the military. She flies airplanes, plays 10 different musical instruments, leads her daughter's Girl Scout troop, served in Iraq twice and voted for Bernie.

Neanderthals. Your asinine insult says more about you than it does our military.

A typical Trump view: a subject-matter expert is not “objective” and therefore only those who are inexpert should be heard or make decisions.

Back to the point that relates to the OP’s comment and this thread. The fact is that Milley is a dumb praetorian. It’s why he was chosen for the job over Goldfein. Goldfein was regarded as being intelligent, impartial, and expert. Naturally, your Dear Leader would not want those characteristics in a CJCS. So we get Milley, because Milley is happy to show up in downtown DC wearing an ACU and ordering his troops to engage in combatant hostilities against unarmed American civilians in the nation’s Capitol city. Because Milley is a Beijing-worthy thug. Again, this is why Trump picked him over Goldfein.

Nobody was close to taking away any rights. Trump is an annoyance that will soon be gone. No fundamental rights have even been at risk. It is people who think the opposite that give trump his power. He is nothing. He has done nothing. Everything has worked the way it was supposed to. Almost nothing of importance was allowed to proceed by the courts, slightly making part of PP's point.

Freedom is won in many places. Yes in a courtroom, but also on a battlefield and every day by good people who do the right things. The military is not actively planning anything. The FBI is another story. But not to keep trump there but to make sure he goes with little fanfare.

I find this kind willful ignorance and naivete completely fascinating.

I've been called paranoid since the beginning, and almost everything I was "paranoid" about has happened, including this bumbling attempt to stay in power.

The idea that Trump is an annoyance and will soon be gone - they are installing loyalists in every nook and cranny they can stuff them into. They've made some of them civil servants so they can't be fired. And look what the head of the Agency that runs VOA just did:

And consider, on Wednesday, a US Senator will contest the results of the Electoral College, seeking to reject the popular and Electoral College win for Joe Biden and keep Trump in power or give him another chance. Everyone's like, oh, that will fail, but that's missing the forest for the trees. Senator Josh Hawley went to Stanford, Yale Law School, and clerked for the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. His wife also went to Yale Law and clerked for Roberts and she's currently employed by one of the most prestigious law firms in DC. The Hawleys are the people we would normally consider to be the types to uphold norms and champion the rule of law and democracy, but here they are trying to tear it down, and nothing anyone says seems to be able to stop it.

And not one Republican, never mind many, are willing to stand up and tell Trump and SecDef to knock it off over at the Pentagon.

We're in trouble folks.

Got it, you wanted Goldfein. But Milley is far from a dumb praetorian. He is pro-modernization and sailed through confirmation with one lone dissenting vote.

A typical elitist liberal view. Everyone who disagrees you with must be a Trump supporter. I am not. I hate Trump. I voted for Biden. I probably agree with you on 90% of issues. But your condescension is idiotic. Condescension is for low brow people who think they aren't.

Can we stop this? Milley was not the class moron at Princeton because there is no such thing. There were people that may not have liked him so they say what they say. Einstein's classmates thought he was an idiot as well. MacArthur thought Eisenhower was an idiot and not even a good junior officer.

The record speaks for itself. You cannot get to where he has been without smarts. He has them. He is not political. People are just making that up. It is people who talk like that and who buy into nonsense like this that are pulling the country apart.

The lesson of the Trump presidency is that the institutions created by the Founders and those that followed work. Courts work. Congress works. Balance of power works. Military works. Government works. No populist on either side can change that.

Did Trump say a lot of scary stuff. Sure. But it was for not.
