That’s you complaint? It was slave quarters FFS. |
Oh well, Whites was paying them nothing before. Why should Whites get to use it for free? That’s absurd. |
Both sides are Trumpers. I don’t know why this keeps coming up. |
Well, it wasn't free. There was an agreement in 1952 that set a token amount- $5. And this was done simply to resolve any question over the matter. Even before that it was clearly the intent of the 1871 order to condemn the land to establish a landing for the ferry at that location. |
They tried to buy the business from them. That's extortion. Sell to us or we shut you down. |
That would even cover the maintenance and property taxes. |
|
But the farm is not maintaining it - the ferry is it sounds like.
The “negotiations” sound like extortion. An shame on PPs who keep using the politics of the owners as any kind of factor in this - that should be totally irrelevant. |
False. They also offered to lease the land to them. White’s refused. Whites wants all the money for themselves. They didn’t even respond to various forms in contact from Rockland’s lawyers. Whites knew all along this was the path it would take. |
Hi Libby! Good try. Go back in your hole. |
Super cute, except for the fact that Maryland was a slave state and part of Dixie, too. |
Who is Libby? It doesn’t matter anyway. The court sided with Rockland. The only one who lost anything here is White’s. So few people used the stupid thing (with all the waiting it was not convenient and didn’t save time) and it was constantly closed due to high water. I don’t see what the big deal is that it’s gone. |
Is it really that much money? I didn’t get the impression that the ferry was killing it. |
Well if it’s not profitable why do it at all? White’s was probably about to close anyway. I bet Covid and WFH didn’t help. It’s a lot easier to just take Point of Rocks. The extra distance is easily made up for by not waiting/loading/unloading the ferry. |
Because the politics of the owners DO matter. To me, and to lots of others. And I rejoice whenever I see a trumper business fail. |
| I live in Loudoun, not that far from the ferry and for the life of me can’t understand why this matters or is making news. Who cares? |
