It's a historical house, built by a famous architect. The wood is heavy and dark, but it would be insane to paint over it. It's old money, not low income new money.

Ughh, doesn't look like it, and I suspect a lot of the heavy tackiness is not original to the house.

It's actually not tacky at all--whoever did it, did it well. Just in the style and taste of the time, which is not current at all. It reminds me of photographs I saw years ago (30+) in Architectural Digest. The house itself is beautiful, but the furnishings could definitely use some updating.

I didn’t see it as that damaging to her. The worst thing was that he purportedly transferred money to her but the people interviewed about that said they know nothing about the specifics. It should certainly be examined but we don’t know much about it.

As for being in the board of the companies, we’d need more info to judge that. Did she know? Did she profit?

What came out of the Hulu documentary for me is just how much of a slime ball and predator Tom is. I wanted to believe he was the Erin Brockovitch guy and that he was as kind and charming as he was portrayed on the show but he is the worst kind of predator. He identified the most vulnerable clients who were young, naive, poor or powerless and stole from them without concern that they needed to money to buy for surgeries, couldn’t afford a place to live, or support themselves because they were orphaned. All their “wealth” and possessions are disgusting. I hope Girardi goes to prison and the victims get everything.

As a lawyer this stuff is insanely damaging. Insanely. She has far more liability as a board member than wives usually do, and the transfers smack of planned bankruptcy fraud.

I’ lm a lawyer, too. I see the transfer as damaging also IF the timing is an issue. For example, if husband transferred $100,000 every quarter, that’s different from no large transfers and then when the boom is falling, he makes a large one. As for the the board member, we need to know more. We had a client in our firm and the business was completely in wife’s name. Husband is arrested and charged first and then wife. All charges were dismissed against her within a year because she did zero for the businesses but signed a handful of documents. Again, we need more info.
