Yes, I have mixed feelings about Monica but I never see male head coaches run out to take care of their injured players. It's always the trainer, who knows what to do in that specific situation. |
I would like another season with a different school. |
So your brother didn't even get a concussion when his head hit the windshield? A concussion is a brain injury. Drug use can cause brain impairments as well. It doesn't mean you become a vegetable. |
| I think Lexi has vocal fry and below average intelligence — comes through in her speech. Possibly she has a learning disability (ADHD, dyslexia) that makes her ability to focus, follow through and get through her classes very difficult. She’s had a hard past and can probably make something of herself but my guess it will take her some more faltering to figure it all out, mature, and succeed. She’s bright and funny but has some challenges outside of her poor decision making (my guess). |
But she is a tumbling BEAST! |

Monica lost me when she made that guy practice after he hurt his back at a competition with another team. Seems like that also put the girl he’s supposed to be catching in a lot of danger. The other thing that bothered me is that the team didn’t seem to have adequate training and medical staff. All teams at the school shared one trainer? For a sport this risky, that’s inadequate. These kids need a lot of support for strength/conditioning, PT and nutrition. If the school can’t provide that that support to the athletes, seems irresponsible to offer the sport.
A guy I grew up picked up cheering in college because he liked a girl on the squad. That worked out and they opened one of those all star gyms when they graduated. It has been an extremely lucrative business. |
Monica was making a point. The guy (forget his name) that got hurt cheered at an all star competition that weekend when she told him not to. Their first priority - especially if they are getting scholarship money - is to the school team. If he was healthy enough to compete in a two day all star competition at the same level, then he needs to be on the mat ready to go for his school Monday. I was in the sport and cheered at the same gym some the people here do and you know what you’re signing up for, especially when on scholarship. |
The kid should not have cheered in the other competition, no question. Monica had a right to be pissed and to impose some consequence on him. The particular consequence she imposed was reckless and exposed him and his flyer to greater risk. If the school had proper medical or training staff on site she would not have been permitted to do that. It was wrong. |
I don't think PP's assertion that Lexi might have a TBI is off base. I mean, both your brother and Lexi are anecdotes, but linking someone's head going through windshield with a probable TBI isn't a bridge too far. I do think Lexi does have a low/er IQ. Which is fine. Many people do. She is so insanely talented at tumbling. If she can get her life on track she would be a great candidate to teach tumbling to kids after Navarro. She could find stability in a simpler job that uses her talents. She just needs a purpose and direction (and discipline to stay out of trouble). She's young...could still happen for sure. |

I have conflicting thoughts about a lot of them. I get why Monica pushes so hard, but making TT practice while hurt was dangerous. That made me distrust her. Seemed vindictive. It seems like she has a definite soft spot for Morgan, like a mother-daughter relationship. I hope Morgan gets the love she needs for one more year and then finds success in whatever she decides to do.
La’Darius...oh man...I want to give him the biggest hugs, but I also don’t think coaching competitive cheer is a good fit for someone with anger issues. I hate Gabi’s parents and I hope she breaks free of them some day. They are using her as a cash cow and preventing her from growing up. I would watch anything with Jerry in it. What a beautiful soul. I love him. |
Not disputing your ultimate point but what doe vocal fry have to do with it? I haven't noticed a correlation between vocal fry and low intelligence. |
I would pull my kid if I saw La'Darius talking to them the way they showed in the last episode. He insults the kids. Gabi has said in interviews that the show really opened her family's eyes to how they treat her and they're making some changes. I think many of us want to adopt Morgan as our little sister. |
| Highly Recommend the series "breaking pointe" if you are enjoying this! It's a similar program following Ballet West a few years back. Absolutely addictive. |
Texas takes anything football adjacent SERIOUSLY. I remember having to do push ups and laps in marching band if we messed up or did not hold our instruments parallel. In Texas sun, no fun! |
Not saying that there is a correlation. She has vocal fry, in a kind of valley girl way. And she also seems to be of lower intelligence. Disparate characteristics can be applied to the same person. |
