The Queen will probably distribute some of the pieces she inherited from her mother and grandmother (Queen Mary, who was a magpie for jewels) but I suspect that most will be passed on to the Crown, of which Charles/Camilla will have control. There is no possibility that the Queen would bypass Camilla for Kate - that's purely delusional.

This. All of the jewelry (except small personal pieces with sentimental value like brooches) are the property of the Crown not the person.

I don't think this is entirely true. We have the official crown jewels, which are owned by the state and copies of which you see in the Tower of London.

The Queen's personal jewel collection will have pieces that technically belong to the crown and the rest are her personal items. Much of the current collection was acquired by Victoria and Queen Mary, I believe, and passed down on a personal level rather than "crown" level.

I'm sure every piece in the collection is officially either crown or personal but most is the latter. Going by precedence, which is what she will do, most of the personal jewels will pass to the next monarch, Charles.

That's not what I said. I said that the Queen will probably distribute some pieces but will pass most of hers (from her mother/grandmother) to the crown. Otherwise they would be subject to death duties. Queen Mary's collection was enormous and the Queen Mother inherited several pieces from other rich people (to avoid death duties). Since the Queen's estate will have to pay death duties unlike prior monarch's, the bulk will be turned over to the crown.

So the Queen's crowns and tiaras go to the next monarch -- King Charles who then can allocated 'supervision' of the jewels to his Queen Consort. The same goes for William and George.

The tiaras don't just disappear out of the crown vault after a death, if they did there wouldn't be any LEFT.

What I'm interested in seeing all the crowns and coronets for a King's regalia that we haven't 'seen' in over 90 years. They're there in the vaults waiting for Charles.

Camilla is 70+ years old. She isn't going to have "supervision of the jewels" for long.

Camilla is 71. If she comes to the throne at 76 (Queenie dead at 101), that would mean 20 years of Queen Camilla.

Guess how old Kate will be when she becomes Queen then? That's right 60+ years old. Ageism sucks doesn't it?

Charles is 70. Actuarial tables would suggest he's not going to be king for 20 years.

Did actuarial tables suggest Elizabeth would be Queen for 65 years?

He definitely saw her.

I'm guessing Buckingham Palace staff had a difficult choice that night. The Lord Great Chamberlain had to be there in attendance to her majesty (and will be there every other time as well).

So did his wife, the mistress of the future Prince of Wales. So should they put her at the table of the future Princess of Wales and risk eyes being scratched out...or at the other other table.

Bad hair, sad little tits, and a pinched face. Is that the look now?

British women have a different standard of elegance- less makeup and done up for sure- but she doesn’t look particularly great in this photo.

Do we *know* this for sure? Mildly curious. Or is it only speculation? It does make sense for the jewels to be handed over to a foundation that holds it on behalf of the monarch and his/her family. The Swedish royal family have a similar arrangement. At the same time I'm sure the Queen is careful to designate things as personal versus crown in case there is ever a disestablishment of the monarchy in the future in which crown properties are likely forfeit. Balmoral and Sandringham are personal, not crown properties, for example.

Didn't Charles say he was going to sell Balmoral to the state the minute he could?

The draping fails to create the appearance of a waist.

I did not believe the rumors until I saw this dress! NO WAY one wears that to a state occasion - sans wedding ring.

Sorry, but I am pretty sure you are wrong. The Crown Jewels belong to the Crown, but the majority of jewelry that you see the Queen wear is her personal property. Kind of like real estate - Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle belong to the crown, Balmoral and Sandringham are personal property. If you look at some of the better known tiaras, for example, some the Queen inherited from Queen Mary, but some she inherited from her mother in 2002 (I think?) when the Queen Mother died. Queen Mary also also gifted some tiaras to her other daughters in law, the Duchesses of Gloucester and Kent, which she wouldn’t have been able to if they belonged to the crown.

Rose knew exactly what she was doing. And when Kate blew up later that night in tears, its not like there would be a 'reasonable' explanation for it.

The dress was a re-wear unlike Middleton's so Kate couldn't say she was trying to outshine her. Same with the diamond tiara in her hair. She just exuded simple elegance and still stole the show. Even Cosmopolitan wrote about it today.

That is how an aristo does a cat fight.

All rose needs to do is seduce seduce seduce. She’ll earn her way to the crown via the alternate path.

I still it’s possible. But why have people ruled out other possibilities:
-rose did something else very cruel to Kate. Repeatedly made fun of her, made fun of her kids, cut her out of social events cruelly, etc.
-maybe it didn’t escalate but maybe rose sent William sexts or something that triggered a confessional to Kate

I bet Wills was the one with the sexts to Rose. She knows how to play it.
