We are in the 20s for LAMB so feeling good about options, but not expecting to make it off the wait list for DCB or Stokes. I guess I'll start comparing the options we do have. I really wanted a middle school option, but DCI is no longer a guarantee so...

It does happen! Happened to us a few years ago and we were equally stunned. Congrats and welcome!

Eaton Elementary School Waitlisted - #1
Murch Elementary School Waitlisted - #1
Stoddert Elementary School Waitlisted - #1
Mann Elementary School Waitlisted - #2
Lafayette Elementary School Waitlisted - #2
Key Elementary School Waitlisted - #1
Hearst Elementary School. Waitlisted - #1

You're likely to get into all of those, so you may want to reorder. Eaton is going to be in swing space next year. And think about what middle school you want....

OMG

Seriously. I posted a couple posts up for 4th grade with some of these schools.

PP, you'll get in to one of them. When that happens, please do those of us on the list further down a favor and remove yourself from any waitlists you are still on (e.g., if you accept an offer at Key, remove yourself from the lists of Eaton, Murch, Stoddert, Mann, and Lafayette)!

I'm the #1 waitlist PP. Absolutely!

I am in shock over these crazy numbers. Since these are all coveted schools, isn't there a chance that those who get offers will accept them, and DC still won't get off the waitlist?

Anonymous wrote:H D Cooke - waitlist #6 as inbound. Heartbroken as are not happy with our daycare and were really counting on it. Any hope?

We are at Cooke, and while I know you are disappointed, there has historically been at least a little bit of movement late in the summer or early in the fall. If you are willing to start school much later in the year (e.g., December), stay in touch with the school about whether a spot becomes available. Sometimes people decide that their child is not ready for preschool and pull them after a couple months of school. Sometimes people move (it's a fairly transient part of the city). Sometimes people get off other waitlists and move later in the year as well.

Either way, you will almost certainly get in next year as it's an expansion year at Cooke with one more classroom and more students per class. Good luck!!

Thanks for your advice, I will try to not cry too much and work with our daycare on addressing some issues, and hope for the best!

Of course, but, for example, if YOU get off the waitlist at even one of those schools, someone else's kid will get bumped up to the #1 slot at that school and the other #1s you turn down.

My kid is #16-20ish, so I'm not expecting any of this to benefit me, but there's some other rising 4th grade family with #4ish waitlist position at a bunch of these schools, so that person might get real lucky.

Either way, congratulations. You will get in somewhere and it will probably be wonderful.

PP that got the incredible 4th grade numbers at the top WOTP schools; congratulations! Definitely look at your list today and reorder based on some good research. I like Hardy but not everyone does and as the previous poster mentioned, Eaton is going to be in a swing space so you’ll definitely get in there. If you leave your list as is you’re going to get removed from all of those other lists. You might really regret that later.

Forgot to add that based on your list I would put Eaton last. Then reorder based on average class size and diversity (if that’s important to you).

Did anyone get an email from MY School DC notifying them that the results were in? I never received an email, but was on DCUM last night and saw this thread. Seems strange that we never received any sort of notification - and all of our contact info in our account is correct. This is the 3rd year I've done the lottery and I've gotten notifications every other time....Did this happen to anyone else?

I'm another 4th grade PP with Eaton waitlist #16. Do you think we have a chance of getting in? We would actually prefer a Hardy feed to Deal and are fine with starting later in the year.

Nope, nothing via email or text, and I've gotten both emails and texts from them in the recent past letting me know when results will be available.
