1. I know of no places in NoVa I would not go out off fear of crime. Not one.

2. Schools are still good. Some have more poor people. Some (in parts of Alexandria and Arlingoton have fewer). Total number of poor in Arlington has decreased - increased in outer suburbs as the housing stock ages.

3. Md tags in your area is due to so many jobs, during the period you claim there was decline.

1) Hang out in the Alabama avenue area late at night.
2) The number of poor in Arlington have been priced out by rich liberals
3) There was not a decline in jobs because tax rates for business are much more favorable than in Montgomery County and other local areas of MD. We were still somewhat red. You will now see that change and I predict as taxes go up, companies will move, lay off and/or otherwise farm out their jobs. Net bonus is a lot of Marylanders will lose their Virginia jobs.

My liberal in-laws tell me they moved here for jobs and won’t go back north due to no jobs and high taxes. Why are there no good jobs in Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders territory?

Because there are a lot of poor minorities there who vote Dem. There are actually good jobs for those willing to work.

There’s a reason the DMV attracts newcomers. These reasons include good jobs, diversity, great schools, etc. If the Deep South is so great, why don’t YOU move there??

DMV is propped up by the federal government period. Without the federal government DC would be like Baltimore. That's a fact.

You mean with no fed govt DC would have gotten major industry in the first half of the 20th century? You do know Baltimore is so hard hit, because (like some midwest cities) it was a huge industrial city.

Anyway, not sure what your point is. Va has done well even as it has become more blue. The most prosperous areas (increasingly reliant on the private sector) are the bluest. Va will not turn into Calif or NY. Calif and NY are economically succesful.

The bolded means there are more jobs in VA than MD and people are communting. That is a good thing for Fairfax and Virginia.

Why would the companies be flocking to Fairfax County and surrounds instead of setting up shop in Maryland?
