Us living together has somehow stressed the cats out. Boy cat has taken a swipe at DH or hissed at him. The girl cat will hide whenever DF is around. DF also seems uncomfortable around them.

Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do?

Ask your bf to hand feed them on a regular basis with something tasty that they love.

This type of stress is normal, especially considering their bad past before your rescued them, it shall go away.

OP do you let your cats out?

You might be neighbors with the raging PP who counted 13 instances of cat poop in the mulch and is probably terrorizing your cats causing them to act out in front of your soon to be.

Are you for real? What’s with the bizarro conspiracy theories? And the repeated ad hominems instead of even trying to justify your cat’s totally unnecessary killer massacres and health dangers? You give “cat ladies” everywhere their bad name.

OP’s cat is territorial, which is perfectly normal, and her fiancé “invaded” the territory. The cat will just have to get over it, hopefully with some sympathetic help from OP and her fiancé.

I'm the PP. I don't even have a cat. You are confusing your PPs. I'm just enjoying the animated discussion.

So you’re a troll. Reporting you.

This indoor cat lady needs to take a chill pill.

They don't stink at all. They groom themselves constantly and are very clean. That said, the whole litter box thing is a real pain and can really stink if not properly tended to. Mine go outside for that so no litter box here and no cat odors of any kind.

Cats should be kept indoors. They’re a nuisance to your neighbors and have driven many native species to extinction. Plus they get hit by cars. That’s why shelters make you (and we did too) sign something saying you’ll keep the cat indoors.

Its the circle of life. They are natural predators and it is more cruel to keep them locked up.

Do you go out to your neighbors’ yards and pick up all the cat sh*t your cat leaves behind? Because it’s happening, and one day I’m going to put it on your front porch in a flaming bag, you inconsiderate f—-

Cats unlike dogs bury their sh*t. It generally doesn't require lifting especially if its in a yard.

You have some serious anger issues.

Wrong. My old neighbor let their cat out every afternoon. I found 17 (I counted) piles of cat sh*t in my mulch and landscaping. I began watching and saw the cat in the act. Please don’t deluded yourself with falsities that your precious Snowflake isn’t a complete nuisance. You would be angry too if your neighbor’s animal was actually sh*tting in your landscaping—that my husband and I work on ourselves—and these crazy cat psychos actually defend it. This is why no one marries cat ladies.

You found cat poop in your mulch? I you didn't use it as a fertilizer? I mean talk about not recycling!

You’re the bored idiot who tries to keep threads going by stirring the pot with moronic quips like this one. Pull some pants over your boxers, get out of your parents’ basement, and get a life.

Humans are the worst of invasive species and have driven far more birds/mammals/reptiles to extinction that pet cats. it's funny how people decide that cats are sufficiently invasive as justify imprisoning them indoors.

Imprisoning? Please. You got a pet, so now you need to take responsibility by giving it attention and toys. Also, get a fence, leash or catio. Opening your door so it can get its kicks torturing small animals and spreading disease is lazy and selfish.

Anyway, are you only capable of addressing one problem at a time? The rest of us aren’t. We can address issues ike overdevelopment and threats to parks AND address the cat sources of problems. You should try getting off single-track thinking.

Op, I had similar problems with my ex. I learned years later that he was abusing the cats while I was out. He was deliberately trying to make them scared of him. It became a huge problem in our marriage. He basically wanted me to get rid of them but he was too weak to say so. Very manipulative. It wasn’t the cause of our divorce, but indicative of his passive aggressive and manipulative ways.

You guys, imagine that crazy cat ladies are actually members of an organized cult that actively seeks out single women in an effort to sway them/brainwash them into their man-hating cat-hoarding lifestyle. Now re-read the thread. It is HILARIOUS!!!

My outdoor cats are healthy and happy and yes, they kill birds. Meanwhile, no species of bird within a mile of my home is in any danger of going extinct. They really just cull out the dumber, slower birds, bats, chipmunks, rabbits, mice, etc. All of which continue to be in abundance around my property. After man years outside, they have learned to avoid cars and things that may prey on them. I wouldn't have an indoor cat. The ones I see are usually fat and kind of dumb from being deprived of the outdoors.

This claim of, "driven many native species to extinction" is BS. Maybe on some island somewhere but not in this country. Birds are all going to die anyway. They don't live that long. The few that cats kill, and I've seen the wildly exaggerated numbers, hardly make any difference.

This sort of self-serving, ignorant BS is why we can’t get coherent conservation and environmental policies in this country. I bet you don’t believe climate change is “real,” either.

Hundreds of species are near extinction, and some of them live or migrate through your neighborhood. https://abcbirds.org/threat/extinction/. Just because you only notice the robins and cardinals on your way from your door to your car doesn’t mean that’s all that’s out there.

A study by the Smithsonian and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (two staid institutions that hardly produce “wildly exaggerated” estimates like you claim) found that cats kill between 1.3 to 3.7 billion birds and 6.3 to 22.3 billion mammals annually. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_predation_on_wildlife

And let’s be clear what we mean by “kill.” Your cat tortures these animals and birds for the “fun” you think it “needs” to have. Then your cat leaves most of the bodies uneaten because, of course, you already fed it.

So sick of this self-serving BS. Get your cat some toys and a fence, leash or catio. And SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOUR PET. Yep, all pets need enrichment, but that doesn’t translate into a bs “need” to torture small animals.

I've seen the numbers, and they wild speculation at best. They make a lot of really big assumptions about feral cat populations and owned cats who are allowed outside, and how many kills they assign to each cat. Even then, they can only come up with a range of 1.3 to 3.7 billion birds? Out of what total population is never mentioned or even speculated. I'm sorry but I don't find those numbers very credible when you can have a range of 2.4 billion in your numbers. That said, I really don't care so call me whatever you like. I've invited a couple of wild animals to live with me and that's what they do sometimes.

You don't know much about cats, or you are confusing them with dogs. You will never find the feces of my cats and especially not in my neighbor's yard. They do a great job of burying it.

Smithsonian scientists don’t do “wildly inflated.” Plus they give a range because that’s what researchers do (I’m a research economist). https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10530-018-1796-y. Moreover, Cats are linked to the extinction of at least 63 species: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.iflscience.com/pl....g-many-species-to-extinction/ and threaten hundreds more species that are on the brink of extinction, including numerous species here in the US.

You don’t think it’s a problem that your (non-native) “wild animal” contributes to the torture of “only” a few billion native birds, plus more native wild animals, just for the “fun” you’re too lazy to provide yourself?

You do think your cats’ “fun” trumps your neighbors’ rights? Even when your cats spread toxoplasmosis and obviously unburied feces in your neighbors’ yards?

OK, I’ll call you a science denier, because you’ve drunk the crazy cat lady koolaid and are obstinately turning a blind eye to the conservation issues around your outdoor cat. I’ll also call you a selfish f@ck, just like pp said, because of what your cat is doing to her and others’ yards.

Hey pot stirrer. PP is obviously a selfish and probably crazy cat lady. But these middle school insults detract from the serious arguments here.
