I’m one of them and I count at least 2 others.

Oh yay, another inane platitude from you. Tell us, do you have conversations with your DD about not playing in the street, fighting with the kid next door, or pooping in the neighbors’ gardens? And she understands you? None of this is true for your cat.

You’ve really stuck your head deep in the sand, haven’t you? You refuse to respond to any of the very real issues raised here, like the health issues (toxoplasmosis), the morality of letting your well-fed housecat torture 30+ animals per month, and the nuisance you’re inflicting on your neighbors like the pp who finds all the cat poop in her yard. Nor do you bother to tell us why you’re too lazy to provide indoor enrichment for your pet, or get a cat leash, fence, or catio. All we get from you are inane platitudes like this one.

And THAT is the kind of wild speculation I'm talking about. Mine are both skilled hunters and I've had plenty of outdoor cats in the past. None of them catch anywhere near 30 animals a month. I a good month, maybe 4-6 and that includes mice and other rodents I wish would die in greater numbers. Some months it's nothing. Now take your 30 a month number and guess at how many outdoor/owned cats their are and then make a wild guess at the feral population. Multiply and you should have a number in a range of a few billion. See, you can be a research scientist too. Who needs PhD? It's easy.

Also, WTF is a catio? It sounds like something you put a fat, depressed indoor cat into. I'm not going to bother Googling that one. As for a fence, you really don't know shit about cats do you, while claiming to know all about their shit and where they drop it. Even a 15 foot high fence will not keep a cat contained. Cat on a leash? I'd rather put the poor thing down that subject them to that.

You don’t see most of what your cat kills. If you had read any of the links, your cat doesn’t bring home half of what it kills because it’s not actually hungry, because you feed it, so it just leaves the dead bodies behind. The kills it does eat it, you don’t see either because they’re in it’s stomach. It’s mostly female cats that bring some small percent of total kills home, in order to teach kittens and you to hunt.

So gross up your original number of just 4-5, and we can talk. This isn’t rocket science.

Get rid of the cat already. You'll adjust just fine without it.

I am the poster whose neighbor’s cat left 17 piles of poop in my mulch. The same cat also left 3 headless birds in the same time frame. A complete nuisance.

Cats should be kept indoors due to all the reasons listed in this thread. To me it's common sense and respect for your neighbors and cats health and safety.

Once you take on a pet you're obligated to be responsible, and keep it happy and healthy until its death.

OP isn't going to get rid of her pets so stop suggesting that.

You can lease train them. My neighbor did and takes the dog, cat, and kid to our park. Letting them roam is dangerous and cruel...not to mention irresponsible.

DP. My indoor cat seems perfectly content. At least, she never, ever hangs out by the door or looks out windows, which is what you’d expect if she were unhappy being inside. We do play with her and fuss over her.

I don’t get the posters claiming it’s cruel not to let your cat out. To me, letting your cat out is cruel to your neighbors, to wildlife, and to your cat because you’re exposing it to the risk of getting smooshed on the road.

Yeah, tell that to the cat that was accidentally run over by my neighbor when it darted under his truck in his driveway.

Mine do that too. The head is the tastiest part.

So you’re a science denier. MAGA.

Not wild speculation, they followed cats with video cams. Is that “good enough science” for you? Also, this re cat owners denying their cats kill: https://www.google.com/amp/s/phys.org/news/2015-06-pet-owners-reluctant-cats.amp

You even deny pp’s “solid” evidence, that she found 17 piles of cat feces lying on top of her mulch. Yes, the evidence is in, and your cat IS sh!tting all over the neighbors’ yards.

I don't deny her claims but I have to laugh when I picture her counting the poop. Did she tag each one and photograph it also? Maybe get a DNA test? I can only talk about my cats. Not her neighbor's asshole cats. Mine are not shitting all over my neighbor's yards and my neighbors love them.

Anonymous wrote: Words fail. You “can’t be bothered” to google “catio.” Nor have you googled “cat fence” because they do exist and are effective.

I'm not looking to buy a fence or a Catio, what that is so no, I can't be bothered to Google them. It would take precious time away from the few minutes I have to comment here and get you all triggered.

You’re a science-denier and a poor excuse for a pet owner. Hope your cat doesn’t get hit by a car or freeze to death in the next few days.

They are too smart to get hit by a car and why would they freeze to death when they can come into this nice house anytime they want? The neighbors even invite them in. But thank you for your concern.
I'm not worried about climate change but I'm surprised you haven't blamed that on my cats also. I was worried as I heard we only have like 12 years left before it all goes to shit. But then, a new hero has stepped forth in the name (initials) of AOC and along with the Green New Deal, we will all be saved. It's wonderful and I won't even have to work anymore. We are all going to be saved just in time so stop worrying about it.

I sat and watched her eat a rodent from head to tail and was really impressed (and a little horrified). So you're right, I wouldn't know about that poor dead mouse if I hadn't seen it and I'm fine with that. She can eat all the mice she wants. My one neighbor really appreciates that. Otherwise, mine are not the type to kill and leave it. They bring everything they kill into the house to show off and they make a big deal about announcing it.

OK, I couldn't help myself and I did Google cat fence.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/7-5-Cat-Fence-Post-With-Extender-And-Sleeve/283137539?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=16078&adid=22222222227262766942&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=313007385110&wl4=pla-571895021516&wl5=9052329&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=125774449&wl11=online&wl12=283137539&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAqt7jBRAcEiwAof2uK48K_ngWcsWsoxSCG1HSSVt1jNafdZqmjddYqeUlZjeUGjpzVBZCAhoCu0QQAvD_BwE

That fence would deter my cats from going over for about an hour. Maybe. That's if they were climbing it. It's only 7-1/2 feet tall so they would probably just leap up, grab the top and be right over in no time. That fence isn't stopping any reasonably smart and determined cat.

The Catio does look kinda cool if you want to tease your cat by letting it outdoors while keeping it boxed in. The one that looks like a tent would not hold my cat very long. Not sure of the others.

You were too lazy to click on the link on the previous page about cat owners being in denial about their cats’ killing, weren’t you? Here you go again: https://www.google.com/amp/s/phys.org/news/2015-06-pet-owners-reluctant-cats.amp

I hope HE gets hit by a car. Or he dies in a climate change-related heat wave. I feel sorry for his poor kitty that he’s too lazy to take care of.
