Gonzaga Kairos Vandalism

I would expect the police to do a full investigation, lest they be accused of not doing their job. Any hope of daddy buying justice for his little man for others had left the station now that the Post is involved.

Look, these kids made egregious errors and will be paying literally and figuratively for a long time. They are rightly being pilloried in public and private. At the same time, they are indeed kids, and all around good kids from good families. Restitution is being made (and then some) and significant community service will be done.

How about they work all summer laying asphalt and donate the $$$.

Miss Spe

But, but, but they can't miss their lax games and the cape.

Your answer is bullish!t.

Just for clarification, I know nothing about the soccer plex incident, but I am a CUA alum and employee, the contract was via the WCAC not Gonzaga and the WCAC was responsible for any damage etc. The Gonzaga students did nothing wrong at DuFour Center, there was just a lot of them and the stands/fence couldn’t stand the weight. Have you ever been to a CUA football game? At most there are 100 people in the stands.

Typical ... thanks for verifying people like you make excuses for animalistic behavior and the boys did nothing to pay for the damages.

Yes I've been to multiple sports events at CU with packed stands and only GZ kids think it's cool to damage property.

1) No, most likely THEY will not be paying anything. Their parents will buy their way out and the school will give them a slap on the wrist.

2) If they are juniors, they are most likely 16/ 17 year olds. Yes, "kids," I suppose in the technical sense, but just months away from being considered adults. Please don't imply that they are helpless children.

3) No, they are not "all around good kids." They just proved that.

4) Your statement about being from "good families" is highly in doubt now as well.

NP. No skin in the game, but why do you care so much to continue to engage in this argument? This incident did not effect you. Yes kids destroyed property and will be punished. Why do you feel the need to harp on this? Why do you harbor so much anger and resentment? Maybe you just need to take a deep breath.

If anyone was going to get expelled it would’ve happened 2 weeks ago after this event took place. They can’t really kick 40 plus kids out of school. My guess is they will give enough money to the homeowner to rebuild and then force the whole class to do some habitat for humanity crap over spring break or summer.

Why this is interesting to the rest of us is that Gonzaga families are consistently some of the most annoying and preening families I have ever met and there children’s have never seemed to be all that. Now the world knows they are just like every other spoiled teen these days - Jesuit education (and the corrupt Catholic Church) has not made a difference when push comes to shove,

I'm not OP. My family has been going to GZ since 1920's and it's an embarrassment to the community.

I want the boorish behavior to be addressed. It's pathetic how much GZ and the whole Catholic community has to deal with in regards to Catholics in positions of authority allowing unchecked behavior to go on and on.

It's an embarrassment. It also teaches boys who will become police and military and politicians and bankers that you report andcdesl with immoral behavior instead of paying your troubles away.

We pay for moral teachings.

In Costa Rica, that will teach them.

Maybe you just need a lesson on how not to be so defensive. I'm not PP, but do you think that if the students weren't rich and white, that they would receive the same "slap on the wrist" punishment that these kids will likely face?

Once again: This is a private matter, on private property and the private property owners chose to handle the matter without police intervention. So, no police investigation at all. Maybe you’ll appreciate the same exercise of your Constitutional rights sometime.

Wait, I am confused. Where do you sense my defensiveness? I am just pointing out that people with no connection with the school are whining about it like somehow it effects them. To me, this reeks of hatred and bigotry based on the level of anger in these comments. It's a private school and they can deal with the matter as they see fit. It's really none of our business. But you go ahead and keep pounding at your keyboard if it makes you feel better.

We are Gonzaga parents. In our opinion, the boys who were at the heart of the destruction should be expelled. The boys who stood by and watched or knew and did nothing should be suspended and experience significant consequences.

This entire matter is horrifying. We are angry that the incident occurred and we are heartbroken at the poor way in which it has been handled. It is a complete embarrassment to our community and we as a family feel let down by everyone involved, including the boys, their parents, school staff, retreat staff and, most importantly, school leadership.

+1.

P.S. It's "affect you," not "effect you."
