A theory about having kids

Oh, there's plenty of stigma still going around, believe me. See all the lovely people on this thread who think that a family of three isn't a "real" family.

Luckily, I love my fake family very much.

Yup! I love my fake family too

No, we had three because we didn't want our son to be alone in the world with no family when we pass. I would have had another one if age allowed.

Again I said "most." Also the notion of "being alone in the world" if you don't have siblings is based on only-child stigma.

You haven't met my brothers-in-law

This has got to be one of the dumbest threads I've seen on DCUM.

We didn't blindly have a second child. We thought very hard about it, we recalculated our budget and our savings for 5-10 years out, we thought about pros and cons given the space we currently have, we thought about pros and cons for our older child and for our quality of life. And we decided we REALLY wanted #2. I don't regret it for a second, she is a joy, and my children get along with each other very well.

WTF are talking about "alone in the world"? I doubt humans are in danger of extinction.. hopefully you live in a community with other people and your kid(s) will form their own relationships and friendships as they grow. Siblings/relatives are nice but don't worry they are not going to be "alone" in any case unless they choose to.

DH and I thought about the need, desire, commitment, money, health implications, and what it would mean to our older child all before our second child was conceived.
