The actrwss that plays Maggie's mom (Jan in The Office) aged terribly. She's just around 50. I wonder what happened? Maybe it was just makeup to make her old enough to be Maggie's mom?
Wouldn't it be funny if she had candles with her with labels of "Serenity by Jan"? |
Its makeup, she looks way better on The Bold Type |
| Wait. So Jon's friend died on 9/11? |
Yes |
| I stopped watching after the first page of this thread. So do you guys like the series or what? I assume so if you kept with it... |
|
Yeah. Such an unnecessary and distracting detail to add.
My guess before tonight's eoisode was that he bought that wine bottle they showed many episodes back, which led to someone to drink too much (Jon or a friend or a girlfriend), which then resulted in a horrible car accident with a tragic death or permanent disability involved. Btw there's a reddit thread on the show, with many more active and numerous participants talking about tonight's episode if you want to check it out. As for my take on it is that the Big Reveal was hugely underwhelming and it didn't even make much sense. Barbara's reaction and what she said after Jon's friend's death influenced him to choose to live fully, to pursue a relationship with a random woman he met that day. So he found a purpose in life, he married her, raised a family, lived 17 more years, and then what, threw it all away due to financial pressures? I get that they writers pointed out Jon was "broken" long before he met D, that he silently suffered all these years, he repressed his trauma, but how did he survive 17 years and then just snapped like that, leaving it all behind? Maggie said it's not just one thing, that its a lot of pebbles stacked up, but the tv show writers did not even show us a small pile. Just two pebbles. Super not convincing. I don't think I'll be watching season 2. |
Many of us disliked or hated lots of stuff about the show (characters storyline, dialogue) but still got sucked into watching to find clues to the mystery of why Jon committed suicide who Barbara Morgan was. |
| Is Barbara Morgan's son the same boy that Rome met at the hospital reading his script and helping wrt suicide? |
Yes |
|
OK, all the over the top storylines have been put out there. So where does this show go now? I don't think the writers will do a good job of letting reactions unfold slowly or naturally. They have already proven that pacing is a problem.
Financial mess unfolded too slowly Same with Barbara Morgan (snore). And everyone's personal upheavals are dealt with in an incomplete, throwaway fashion. |
| I’m out. |
Me, too. Some of the cast is good but the writing is SO bad. |
|
Omg. All the secrecy about Barbara, the apartment, etc was due to the fact Jon’s friend died? Are we really suppose to believe he never told his friends or wife that he almost got on a plane that crashed on 9-11? The whole thing is just ridiculous
Am I suppose to feel sorry for Rome? His wife told him that she did not want kids when they got married. He cannot be that surprised that she still feels the same way. I am not sure why I keep watching. I guess because the show has so much potential. It just does not live up to it. |
| I’m with you guys. I watched it last night thinking this is the big reveal?! DCUM could have written the episode so much better. |
