| Nope --- club choice. They decided they were going to run one team for each ECNL age group. They found they needed some cash so they "manufactured" a couple teams to fill in the gaps. Beyond the younger age groups, the girls side doesn't want to develop anyway....they just want to win games. |
There are plenty of kids! BRYC is not invested in all their players, but always happy to add another paying customer. Recruiting has already started for the teams who are losing. |
so if they have enough kids, and are training them with similar style and opportunities to compete at appropriate levels, what makes it not an academy again? |
No one said that. BRYC puts ECNL before composite. The person asked if ECNL and Composite pay the same fee? The truth is YES, U13s pay the same fee across the board. Are the two teams getting the same training and coaching?, NO |
They seem to be winning a lot of games and I doubt they would be doing so if the players were not getting better. A stupid statement, my daughters play for Loudoun and every BRYC team I saw played good soccer. Winning is part of playing in a national league. If they are developing younger players like you said what is wrong with playing to win and playing good soccer while they do that? Let's all play to lose |

Northern Virginia ECNL Clubs Total Points
BRYC 121 McLean 117 Vda 87 Loudoun 56 |
|
Here is the trend though - BRYC and McLean falling
Mid Atlantic ECNL U13 points VDA 30 Loudoun 12 BRYC 9 McLean 3 |
| That’s not a “trend” it’s a single age group. |
|
U15 / 16 / 17 /19 (Recruiting Age Groups) points BRYC 106 points McLean 94 points Loudoun 39 points VDA 29 points |
We'll get a better idea next year whether there is a trend. McLean and BRYC are strong in the oldest age groups and VDA dominates two youngest age groups. If the youngest age group teams for BRYC and McLean flop next year and VDA adds another strong age group, we can start acknowledging the shift in power. |
A shift in power ??? Having a good team at u13-14 does not mean you will be good at 16-19. McLean and BRYC are going to bring in players at those age groups. Both of those clubs have connections with top colleges, national teams and are killing it u15 and above. Please don't be so Naive. U13-14 VDA Parents need to watch the older age groups. |
Totally agree U15+ BRYC 106 points VDA 29 points That is a monumental gap. Good luck..... |
| This is the dumbest thread on the board. Talent varies by age group? Shocker! |
The point was the players they are using are already developed some place else, and there's some incremental improvement. If you're happy with your kid sitting on the bench as No 18 and not playing or getting developed as long as the team wins, then good for you. If winning at youth soccer helps you live your best life, congrats... |
The situation is completely reversed in the younger age groups, where VDA teams are consistently strong and BRYC teams are pathetic. When U19 age group graduates next year, BRYC will lose 31 points and VDA only 5. Without the graduating teams, the clubs will be separated by mere 8 points and if VDA brings a strong incoming class, they will easily pass BRYC in total points. As for connections to national teams, you are naive if you think that BRYC offers a good pathway. Your best chance to get a call up is to join a DA club. |
