All clothing is ugly these days

Brava! I, too, understood this even when I was in my early 20s. In fact, it was even more valuable to understand that then, when I had less disposable income. I bought timeless, beautiful pieces built to last when I could, and indulged in a very few trends here or there to keep things fresh and fun. Now that I'm in my late 30s, I'm never the one looking back at old photos and FB posts and cringing; I looked good then, I look good now, and I'm never dated/slave to a trend.

NP. I am young at heart (47). If you spent enough time here and saw the shoes and dresses posted along with the insistence on pantyhose you would get why people are calling these women fraus.

There is nothing wrong with this top posted earlier and it does not skew 14 yo.

27 y/o PP here. That blouse isn't terrible but I wouldn't be caught dead in it. I would wear this instead:
https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-silk-long-sleeve-blouse-black?collection=womens-tops

This is probably just a difference in taste, right? But I haven't found anything of good enough quality at mall stores in a long time.

That shirt is hideous. It gives the model NO SHAPE. Formless, shapeless, as if she were a size 22 instead of a 2. It also is a trend explosion--sheer AND lace AND peasant AND a random, purpose-less floating tie thingy. If you have to say the word "and" more than once or twice to describe an article of clothing, it's a no.

Actually, no, "one" can't. Everything at AT and J Crew and Brooks Brothers has no darting/definition in the waist, haven't you noticed? Seriously, go look at AT blouses/tops online right now. They are all boxy/loose, and have weird colors and prints, and have random tie-things at the neckline.

100%. Case in point:

shapeless + puffy 3/4 sleeves + most unflattering color ever - https://www.anntaylor.com/lantern-sleeve-double-v-top/436829?skuId=23798137&defaultColor=7390&colorExplode=false&catid=cata000010

boxy + ruffles + ties + totally see thru + dotted - https://www.anntaylor.com/dotted-ruffle-tie-neck-blouse-/440701?skuId=23737419&defaultColor=2222&colorExplode=false&catid=cata000010

boxy + ties and bows - https://www.anntaylor.com/bow-cuff-blouse/444958?skuId=23672680&defaultColor=5348&colorExplode=false&catid=cata000010

That s**t is heinous!

boxy + ruffle sleeve + bold pattern that goes with nothing - https://www.anntaylor.com/leaves-silk-tie-sleeve-blouse/442640?skuId=23353619&defaultColor=5095&prodId=442640

This, this, this-ity this-this-this

I think it is telling that these ridiculous shirts are paired with jeans on the models. Overly fussy CASUAL shirts. What are we supposed to wear to look professional? Ann Taylor must think only dresses.

I dont shop in the malls either and can wear neither top as I have a large bust but all this arm flailing over the AWFUL UGLY fashions here gets a sideye from me as people here post some of the ugliest shoes I have ever seen.

I like those in the blush color. http://www.tedbaker.com/us/Womens/Shoes/KAAWA-Metal-detail-leather-court-shoes-Pink/p/135091-NUDE-PINK

I don't really like to wear bright colors in general but that's just my personal taste.

For casual summer shoes, I really like pons avarcas and now that it's getting cooler I wear these most days: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/blondo-riyan-waterproof-sneaker-women/4567953

Don't get what? Don't get the appeal of busy, ruffled, cheaply made and over priced trendy shirts?
