All clothing is ugly these days

Well said, OP. I will join your anti-fashion rebellion. Signed, 40 year old mom of two with a corporate job who likes vintage and occasionally ABFab quirky style but would never set foot in anthropologie.

OP here. I said at all price points, and I meant it. I shop at a range of stores, including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, boutiques, Co-OP, etc. it's all gone downhill, as far as quality and styling.

I lament every time a clothing item I own has to be retired because I know I can't replace it with anything decent.

And right now, it's incredibly hard to replace any of these items!

+1000, OP.

I am not middle aged or overweight and have tons of disposable income. Clothes right now are straight up ugly and poorly made. It is very hard to find good quality classics or be excited about anything in stores. It's mostly hideous and ridiculous.

Slow clap building to a standing ovation. On point.

I gave up and started to buy Eileen Fisher.

If you buy carefully, garnet hill has some okay stuff.

All the random fabric knots and twists and holes... awful.

Plus FIT. Let's just not define the waist anymore. Oh, OK. Because women of all sizes have nice waists, but let's take that away from them. Darts? What are darts?

Zippers, big-ass gold zippers everywhere. It's like Michael Jackson took over the Ann Taylor design team.

Try Eileen Fisher and Brooks Brothers. Those are the only places I shop now, though I will admit to a few trips into J. Jill. Basically, I have become my mother and shop everywhere I used to make fun of when she shopped there.

Agree also. I wander into Nordstrom ready to buy some clothes, and I wander and wander and wander and I can't even find anything I want to TRY ON!

I always go back to jcrew even though it's deteriorated.

I use store music as a guide. If they are playing Mikey Cyrus, I'm out. The Cranberries? I'm in.
